@EricReeseFN Podcasters built pretty big audiences during that boring era. There were plenty of storylines for passionate fans.
The Cubs went 108 years without winning The Series. Pretty sure Chicago radio had plenty of things to talk about that boring baseball team.

If you’re a sports talk radio station, you talk about the sports in your market.
They certainly talk about the #Sixers when they were openly tanking during the Michael Carter-Williams era.
The #Flyers were in the postseason then, and they got like a minute of coverage.

@dsilver88 I don’t think Tipp + 1st + prospect (not named Martone), gets you a proven STUD 1C. It might get you a guy with potential (a Shane Wright - Sane Pinto type)
Nobody is trading a STUD 1C to the O&B unless TK, Martone, or Michkov is in that package, and that’s a non-starter.

I am in 100% enjoy-the-ride mode right now but in back of my head is what winger(s) could get moved in offseason because there are 7 wingers for 6 spots (Konecny, Martone, Tippett, Foerster, Michkov, Barkey, Bump)
If Tippett + 1st + prospect gets you stud 1C, you have to listen

@dsilver88 Probably going to get shit for this, but if they want any chance at a 1C or (more realistically) 2C then they either need to offer sheet or put together a trade package that includes Tippett. But I’m skeptical of an offer sheet because other teams have cap space to match offers .

There's a strong chance PHI doesnt trade from its wing depth, instead a kid like Barkey, maybe even Bump could be in the AHL next year.
Part of building this franchise back has to be getting the Phantoms competitive.

@hostagejoe Drysdale reminds me a bit of Tippett in that he doesn’t know how good he is. This season the lightbulb seems to have gone off for Tipp. Imagining a huge jump for JD next season when everything starts to really click.

But it's worth pointing out just how good Porter Martone has been by the numbers so far.
At age 19. Dropped right in the middle of high-intensity, stretch-run hockey.

@KKurzNHL Credit to Couts & Tocch for the switch to the hybrid center role he’s playing (thx to Glendening add). It’s taken the night-in-night-out heavy workload off so when needed to be that shutdown guy like against the Isles, he was able to. He had 3.5min more than any other FW.

Got a text yesterday from someone whose opinion I really respect, who said the Isles game was "the best I’ve seen Couturier play in a few years." It is fairly remarkable how he's helped give the Flyers an effective fourth line the last few weeks. Underrated development IMO

@UncleButsy He’s allowed Couts to play a hybrid center role and it’s had a noticeably positive impact on Couts. Then it’s simply the 4th is clicking.
