@ShiYoTendo No I'll keep my PS5, I have over 100 true physical games (not online only, not day 1 patch needed, not key disc). No plan to get a Switch 2 for 2 Remakes, Donkey Kong, a bunch of ports of 5 to 10 year old games I have and a bunch of game key cards. Instead I'll pass on the PS6.

@DomTheBomb I'll be playing my backlog so I'll be playing on SNES, SEGA, PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox 360, GameCube, Switch (1), GBA, 3DS, NDS, PSP and PS Vita. If I somehow catch up in my lifetime then I'll emulate what's left.

@NWilliamsoff Walking back the no physical games otherwise there's no reason to get a PS6. If I ever feel there's a game I must play I'll get it on PC when it's $10 or less. Otherwise I'm playing my massive physical backlog for the rest of my life.

@ragingcalmly @StopKilingGames Multiple disc like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and other PS5 games have done. It's also been done like this since the PS1 days.

According to Sony and many publishers, you don’t own your disc, you never did. Their terms can still restrict access or revoke licenses. That’s why we fight for consumer law: physical media was one of the last limits on this control. You will own nothing and be happy.

@LisaaaMuh @Dragoonglue @StopKilingGames You must be playing some shitty or badly optimized games. From the 60 or so physical PS5 games I've played I've never had to patch most of them very few exceptions like Elden Ring and Stellar Blade had a patch. In Stellar Blade case I played the unpatched cause patch was censored

@Dragoonglue @StopKilingGames They all need patches in some way or another because there's almost always something vitally wrong with them at launch. I'd never prefer the version on disc, unpatched. Likelihood of running into game-breaking bugs and corrupted save files is too high. That's the way it is now.

@RinoTheBouncer Never said I was, I almost never play on PC and if I do it's a free game like Marvel Rivals, Overwatch or Siege.

@50PlusGamer1970 @mrpyo1 Sony could have said hey were are the only place you can still get mostly physical (since most of Nintendo's library is game key cards now) and get more people to get their consoles. But instead they shot themselves in the foot and are following Xbox.

@50PlusGamer1970 @mrpyo1 Ah yes the skewed data. First shovelware that's digital only and dlc. Then you have Xbox not releasing physical versions of many games to push people to gamepass. Xbox also removed most game products from brick and mortar retailers. Slowly taking away options to use this excuse.

It's time for a change, speak up against Sony and Playstation. Push back the death of physical media, it's time to unite the whole gaming community to one common thing. Don't accept, SAY NO TO DIGITAL ONLY FUTURE This includes everyone, USE YOUR VOICE!!!

@GASEEKERS Oh so someone else feels that way too. I thought I was the only one that didn't give a shit about GTA. I've tried 3, Vice City, San Andreas and 4. Never finished one they are so boring. Best part is using cheats and fucking around but you can only do that for so long.

PlayStation announced that physical disc production for new games on its consoles will end in January 2028, with future titles releasing digitally only via the PlayStation Store and retailers. The PlayStation Store on PS3 and PS Vita will close in phases, starting in select regions in late 2026 and completing globally by July 2027, ending new content purchases. Previously purchased PS3 and PS Vita games remain downloadable for the foreseeable future, while pre-2028 physical games are unaffected by the disc production change.

@PlayStation Guess I'm done with Playstation if Playstation is done with physical media (already done with Xbox and Nintendo is hanging by a thread). Time to put some real work on my backlog while saving money.

@RinoTheBouncer I never buy a console on the first year I always wait a year or two. Also the only way I'm buying a PS6 is if Sony still mostly supports physical media like the PS5 has.
