Time traveller approaching termination. Looking with awe and contempt at the machinations of mankind wondering which planet I'm really on.

@magattew African countries have inherited structural issues however it is not all self inflicted. They are at a tipping point where they will surmount historical problems. Finally Rodney developed a model of capital and revenue flows. Primary production should be converted to secondary.

Walter Rodney was wrong. Africans are poor because too many African countries make it hard to start businesses, get permits, access reliable electricity, trade freely, protect property, enforce contracts, attract investment, and keep the rewards of hard work. Singapore is richer than Britain, its former colonizer. Switzerland, which never built a colonial empire, is richer than Spain and Portugal, two of the greatest imperial powers in history.

@EdwardBrode @magattew No one is holding Africans down! When you reinforce this victimhood mentality, the more you are saying Europeans are superior to Africans. What Africans need to do, like every other colonial enclaves is to hold themselves responsible and fix their problems. Not your pity.

Africa is just a really difficult place to develop. Ever watch the movie "The Ghost in the Darkness"? It was based on a true story of 2 Man eating Lions that nearly halted work on a railway bridge in the late 1800's. If 2 Lions can nearly stop 1 bridge from being completed. Imagine what all of Africa's Challenges create for such projects.

Indeed the wealth of a nation is directly proportional to the freedom given to its entrepreneurs and innovators. Democracy is somewhat optional as seen by the examples of Singapore and Shenzen, but property rights and rule of law are critical. Taxation does not have to be low but must not significantly destroy wealth compounding. High taxation also correlates with high state activity which typically hinder the entrepreneurs and thus stop wealth creation. There is no reason that African cities and countries could not become the next Singapore, Dubai or Shenzen. Just copy the those playbooks and stand aside. Imagine masses of Europeans descending on a great city in Africa in 2036 to make their fortune alongside busy locals. My preference - a place with a nice beach please.

@Tocen1010 So is that the reason why our ruiners cart away billions in foreign banks? If it Europe that asked them to steal and not develop the country? Did Europe say they shouldn’t builds roads, schools, hospitals, pay salaries etc. Excuses is what I see

I studied political science as a minor in the university and this was one of the books that we read and referenced in one of the courses. Initially as young chaps this book infuriated us and we began to blame the west for our woes until we came across another book “How Africa Underdeveloped Africa”. Till date, I have no blames or fight with the Europeans. The time for blaming them is long gone. Now it is our evil leaders who are constantly looting and ravaging the continent. Sometimes I wonder if there’s really a problem with the black race because how can a whole continent have wicked leaders? Only the “white” part of the continent have major developments. Africans, it is your leaders that have ravaged you, not Europeans.

@AlBuffalo2nite @jemelehill Academia of the time was putting out a prevailing view that Black People were essentially a different species, thus no need to feel bad about treating them poorly. It was the Christian concept that we are all made in G-D’s image that found hypocrisy in “created equal” and slavery

Look up the ages of the Freedom Riders. Lots of young folks. So when people are discussing whether it’s fair to ask young people to boycott attending certain schools in the Deep South over gerrymandering, realize young people were a core component of the civil rights movement.

@AlBuffalo2nite @jemelehill There are ways in which we can have discourse. Your commentary is asymmetric in that it seeks to obscure facts. The Dixiecrat Democrats are now the base of the Republican party. That happened. Why the ignorance, the presentation is embarrassing and futile because people know.

“Jemele conveniently leaves out one enormous historical detail… The Freedom Riders were not being attacked by conservatives carrying Republican Party signs. They were beaten, arrested, terrorized, attacked with dogs, firebombed, and opposed primarily in Democrat controlled cities and states during that era. That historical truth suddenly becomes very uncomfortable for modern Democrats because it destroys the rewritten mythology that they alone stood for civil rights. The same segregationist governors… The same sheriffs… The same local political machines… The same southern power structures… Were overwhelmingly Democrat. Young Black Americans should absolutely study the Freedom Riders. But study ALL of it. Study who stood against them. Study which party defended segregation for generations. Study who voted against the Civil Rights Act in higher percentages. Study who used racial fear as political currency for over a century. History matters. Complete history matters even more.” #SilentMajoritySpeaks #AStoneGroove

Drinking in a Wigan pub, Burnham gets mentioned: “He voted for the Iraq War but believes in open borders, illegal immigrants put in hotels whilst some of our military veterans are left homeless on the streets.” He’s not as popular as some mainstream media would have us believe…

So as I was about to begin a press gaggle with the next governor of California, @becerraforgovernor, a reporter says, Congresswoman, any reaction to Trump endorsing Ken Paxton. I’m not gonna lie, I was in shock! Why, who knows?! Degenerates love & support one another. I’m so sad that I won’t get to stomp him in a debate & on the ground! Trump’s endorsed primary candidates keep giving the senate nod to the Dems in Georgia, so keep endorsing so that Dems can win, everywhere!

@magattew And they don't try to take everything they can from the successful. You have to build up vast resources to do what Musk is doing at SpaceX, succeeding where the USSR (with N1) failed.

Again, it does not matter what the growth is, it would always be higher if not for Brexit. Unless you believe resurrecting the highest of barriers to trade, prosperity & growth against our neighbours, without (not in our gift to) removing either of them against & into any other country/market (never mind one of the same size & closeness as the EU), is better for greater trade, prosperity & growth? What Gove is proposing is less trade, prosperity & growth now for UK existing businesses & sectors, for the hope of better trade, prosperity & growth for new businesses of the future. Now, that is *not* what was sold by Brexiters at the time (we were sold *immediate* benefits), but is closer to the truth: "greater sacrifice now for you (guaranteed) in the present - but not us politicians - for a better hoped for (but *not* guaranteed) future for future generations. People should vote accordingly.
James Holland@James7Holland

Superb from @michaelgove. The silence in the room is telling. When eloquently delivered facts hit an audience, with many perhaps quietly grasping for the first time that the pro-EU lobby in Britain have been peddling nonsense for a decade.

I posted that I’m going to the Unite the Kingdom parade tomorrow, and yes, plenty of people have said “have a good day” and “enjoy it”, which I appreciate. But what really stood out was how many people also felt the need to say, “stay safe”, “protect your stuff”, “don’t go alone”, “make sure you stay with people”. And that says something. What kind of country are we living in where going to the capital city to stand with people waving the national flag also comes with warnings about your safety? That isn’t normal. People should be able to show pride in their country, carry their own flag, and attend a public event without others feeling like they need to warn them to be careful. I appreciate everyone looking out for me, genuinely. But the fact so many people felt they had to say it tells you exactly where the United Kingdom is at the minute. #UniteTheKingdom #UnionFlag #UKPolitics #BritishPolitics #London #Patriotism

@Real_Ken_McLeod @charise_lee You need a history lesson a civic lesson and moral education. Misalignment is no excuse for shouting in the fog of ignorance. All I'm going to ask is who elected the Supreme Court to apply a version of law that was rejected 40 plus years ago?
