Most AI 3D generators just output lumpy meshes. WebCAD generates mathematical surfaces. I taught CAD Genie how to use advanced operations: Revolve: "Make a wine glass" (Profile + Axis) Loft: "Make a bottle" (Multi-plane profiles + Guide) It doesn't guess pixels. It generates the B-Rep history stack. Try it yourself (Free): app.webcad.ca

@fdotinc 5 DOF robotic arm being built and rendered in browser from a geomtric script built by an agent. Also it being simulated in real time. Exportable to STEP aswell.

@QiaochuYuan @TheZvi Precisely, I genuinely can't believe it got worse somehow. It's also prone to making a million assumptions that aren't correct in regular conversation.

@TheZvi in conversation it's much more annoying to talk to than fable, like unusably so, similar to but maybe even worse than opus 4.8, to the point i'm not even interested in seeing what it can do. agent-wise who knows

@TheZvi Not as impressed as i was with fable 5, though quite a good model. Haven't had the pleasure of actually using it properly since every task i through at it, it defaults to using agents and stopping immediately until i probe constantly for it to continue.

@kieranklaassen @every I'm really trying to figure out how to get it to keep going and stop asking questions after one seemingly tiny thing. It stops so frequently and i'm not sure why.

I’m about to spend the next 10 nights working on my cad skills , which are pretty weak now adays. I’m going to go with Fusion or Plasticity I think. I like plasticity so far but it isn’t free. I’ve also read good things about Shapr3D, which has a free version. Recommendations?

🧵 DeepSeek appear to have engaged, or be engaging in, a large-scale operation to collect outputs from proprietary models (including Claude Fable 5) for certain requests via their API as part of a distillation effort. After seeing such claims circulating earlier today, we conducted an investigation into them on our Discord. We found that, when "Deepseek V4" was used within OpenCode - via their official API - for complex prompts (i.e. 3D games) and combined with a knowledge-related query, the model provides virtually identical outputs to Fable 5. CoT structure is also very different from what is typically expected from Deepseek models. Both of these behaviours revert to what is expected for V4 when simpler prompts were used. When "Deepseek V4" was asked to incorporate answers to questions related to cyber or bio tasks that we verified hit Fable's classifiers into its 3D games, outputs tanked in quality. This is very difficult to explain unless the request was routed to Fable and fell back after hitting a classifier. For complex code prompts without anything else mixed in, like 3D games, outputs were remarkably similar to those produced by Fable 5. We were able to produce these results most consistently via OpenCode and the official Deepseek API combined with a prompt that specifies a complex code task. Deepseek have continued to modify their routing system since, as we have observed changes in behaviour and CoT style compared to those seen previously. Our investigation was conducted from 7AM-8AM PT.

recently, you've seen OpenAI bros on the TL embrace this doctrine that open weights is decel and commie and bad because it slashes frontier margins and thus capex for True AGI Progress I think it's mostly trauma of the pre-IPO valuation flip. their big problem is Mythos, not Kimi

@teortaxesTex The funniest part of the OG post was him saying open source slows down progress. Where does he think Anthropic got their thinking architecture from? From OpenAI?

@tszzl Is this not due to arbitrary government regulation on ai releases, with labs playing along with the charade?

the era of the chinese labs being far behind is over, Kimi is at least on par with the modern public frontier models. people have to think differently now without any competitive margin built in

we did not have our best last 12 months ever, which is mostly my fault, but we are about to have our best 12 months to date. the team is doing amazing work and i think you’ll be very happy with what they’ve got cooking for you. i am happy about this for many reasons, but mostly because i care about our users winning. AI has to be about giving lots of people more freedom, agency, and wealth. we want to do the right thing, but we do not want to scare people into doing our thing.

At different times you complained about speed, code slop, frontend quality, ... With each release we improve and GPT 5.6 Sol is ✅Fast and token efficient ✅Hardcore at back-end dev ✅Great at front-end ✅Does not use useEffect everywhere What is next?

@TheZvi It's *really* good at long running work that has a narrow amount of things that must be done. Has a propensity to rely on tools too much and not vision for some reasons. Also seemingly uses more emojis.

5 DOF arm, ceiling rail edition: requested by @AiPrepperX Same arm as last week, hung upside down on a prismatic rail traverse. Parts unchanged, the solver does the 180° flip from one mount connector. Contact sweep: 0.298mm running clearance across the range of motion.
Ai Robotics X@AiPrepperX

@MakerMatters Are you able to simulate this same arm but up-side-down hanging from the base? Same tasks, same movements but the base it bolted to a ceiling rail mounted rail to provide some side-to-side movement of base ... but the arm does the same tasks, but just reaching down.
