Just a bit of personal news, Saturday will be my 156th and final league match covering #readingfc. It's been a dream come true to have had nearly four years working for my local paper, and covering my club for three-and-a-half of those, but feel it's time for a change.

Understand the need and desperation to see new signings in as fast as possible but fans need to bare in mind a few things: 1. We did a lot of our business late when we first went down and look at who we got. 2. Trust Brian Carey & co to get the best value for money when searching for players. 3. Fans have been screaming out for sustainability for years, let the club pick and choose what money works for us short/long term. Don’t pay over the odds for bang average players (Chem, Lubala etc). Guarantee by the end of the window we have a good enough squad to compete, if not come back to this tweet and tell us we were naive. #readingfc

like everyone else I would love some players/contracts to be done, but the priority is for #ReadingFC to have as good a squad as poss, not to build it ASAP really don't see the point getting impatient now. at the very least, see where we are on day 1 of pre-season (1/2)

football demands so much of us emotionally throughout the season that it's really, really not worth getting worked up in mid-June about the size of the squad
