No referendum needed for CAB3. Here's why. Zimbabwe's Constitution only requires a referendum to change 3 things: ✅ Chapter 4 - Your Rights ✅Chapter 16 - Land ✅Section 328 - Amendment rules CAB3 touches none of them. Parliament can pass it with a two-thirds majority. That's not a loophole - that's the law you and I approved in 2013. "But term limits!" Extending an election cycle from 5 to 7 years is not the same as changing term limits. Term limits govern how many terms someone can serve - CAB3 doesn't touch that. Not even close. Bottom line: Demanding a referendum on CAB3 is itself unconstitutional. The Constitution is working exactly as Zimbabweans built it.

ZANUPF Treasurer General, Cde Chinamasa says Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill will sail through Parliament ZANU PF politburo member Patrick Chinamasa has expressed confidence that the Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill (CAB3) will easily pass through Parliament, declaring that there is no opposition strong enough to block its progress. Speaking at a CAB3 rally attended by senior party officials, including Presidential Special Advisor Dr. Paul Tungwarara, national secretary for war veterans Douglas Mahiya, Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Misheck Mugadza, and ZANU PF provincial chairperson Tawanda Mukodza, Chinamasa said the liberation struggle was about securing total political control. He told supporters that the ruling party’s dominance in Parliament would guarantee the Bill’s passage. “We did not go to war to have half power. Some people died during the war and some people sacrificed,” Cde Chinamasa said. “ZANU PF should tell people what to do. We are very sure that we are going to score through MPs for the Bill to pass, as there is no goalkeeper and no one is going to stop it.” Cde Chinamasa’s remarks underline ZANU PF’s determination to push the amendment forward, with party leaders rallying behind the Bill and projecting unity in its support. #CAB3

President ED is a politician like any other who uses any opportunity that comes on his way. To accuse Zanu-PF for identifying weaknesses in our constitution is Wrong. From the word go, it was wrong for that important constitution to be written by political parties under COPAC.

This is not the first worst weather we have had; we have never had to depend on charity. We buy food and it takes means to do so. As I grew up under Rhodesia - white Rhodesia - the country faced same cycles of drought and survived on grain imports, including from a black-governed country called Kenya. To this day, yellow maize in Zimbabwe is called ken’a, because of those pre-independence grain imports. What riles me are attempts to pooh-pooh our land reforms -itself the final act of decolonization - by falsely lionizing white farming as super-efficient and some insurance against periodic cycles of grain shortages. It is a false narrative peddled by slaves in the white kitchen!!!!!
