@dangomushi_fue @bignothingman Yeah, no. Pause and think about which indie vtubers have had prominent roles in multi-million dollar media projects? Best I can think of is Dokibird, Kson, Amalee, and Cyuu. Three of those are as non-vtubers, and Dokibird is specifically because of how bad Kurosanji screwed up.

@bignothingman "Just going indie isn't that simple. We would get maybe 2% of the opportunities as we get here" To an extent I don't think thats true at all and chuubas like Nimi and Mint are the proof. They have concerts, merch, m&g's and most importantly: peace of mind and fun (hopefully)

@WickedDopeName Nah chief, shes hit the gaijin burnout phase that all immigrants hit about 3-5 years into living here. Youll notice its a common number with en vtubers who move to japan. Happens all the time to my colleagues and friends, they either adapt or leave.

@ManaByte I'd point out that it's probably *not* cost effective. The cost of licenses in perpetuity generally assume you'll be using it for about the next 50 years. Getting a 20 year (or even 10 year) timed license would have gotten the same results for cheaper.

The fundamental flaw in this billionaire conspiracy theory is a complete misunderstanding of how the music industry actually works. The assertion that an indie publisher managed to secure impossible, permanent rights that a giant like Rockstar Games couldn't pull off completely falls apart the moment you look at the actual tracklist. Rockstar Games licenses generation-defining, multi-platinum mega-hits. When you put massive Billboard chart-toppers into Grand Theft Auto, you are paying an astronomical premium to major record labels for top-tier intellectual property. Those agreements are almost always structured with strict expiration dates because the rights holders know they can squeeze more money out of a renewal down the road, which is why even massive legacy titles eventually see tracks patched out. Mixtape takes a completely different approach. Johnny Galvatron didn't license the massive radio staples that cost a fortune. Instead, the game relies heavily on deep cuts and cult indie favorites. Think about tracks like "Love" by The Smashing Pumpkins instead of "1979," or obscure, atmospheric B-sides from bands like Lush, Devo, and The Jesus and Mary Chain. From a licensing perspective, these are two entirely different worlds. Securing highly extended or perpetual licenses for artistic deep cuts is incredibly cost-effective because those specific tracks aren't in high demand for massive commercial campaigns. Record labels and artists are often more than happy to clear the rights permanently for a reasonable upfront fee, especially for an acclaimed indie studio with a track record of treating music with genuine respect. Conspiracy theorists want to believe a shadow syndicate of billionaires bought out the music industry for an indie project. In reality, it was just a smart, music-focused development team understanding the economics of licensing and choosing curation over raw star power.
Endymion@EndymionYT

Mixtape has music that will NEVER run out of license, not even GTA has that in their games. It’s not an indie game you retard it’s a fucking psyop project funded by billionaires & Astro turfed by games journalists to see how they can artificially power up the reach of a project by their recommendation alone. Stop sucking the industries shaft so much, at this point you’re doing tricks on it. Mixtape is about as indie as I am a biological woman x.com/gonintendotwee…

@papungel @Quad_Machine09 @HannyahZ @_Fernandes_Yo Sounds like *someone* hasn't studied much in the way of set theory Even if we don't "know" hard numbers, we can still know how groups of numbers are related to one another and make statements based on that relation.

@papungel @Quad_Machine09 @HannyahZ @_Fernandes_Yo I know the ballparks of where timed licenses cost, where perpetual licenses cost, and I know what the market trends for games looks lile (60% of total sales in the first year) If *their* expectations go past 10 years, they are even bigger fools.

@papungel @Quad_Machine09 @HannyahZ @_Fernandes_Yo (Edit: should be 50, my brain is not mathing) It matters because it points to how there's a *giant* gap between paying for a timed license and a perpetual one. Not "a few extra dollars" If the expectation is to sell the game for 10 years, they overpaid fivefold.

@papungel @Quad_Machine09 @HannyahZ @_Fernandes_Yo You seem to be misunderstanding the situation then: The *claim* is that getting a license in perpetuity would be a "few extra bucks" compared to having a timed license. A timed license is about $250-$2000 per year, while a perpetual one could go up to the millions.

@Peko_girlboss Okay, but pause: what metric are we using to measure size? If you go off of mass, dynamax is weird in that it's actually just like... an aura projection instead of actually being "bigger". Gloria probably still takes it because Zacian/Zamazenta are very heavy doggos

@meghlomaniac @MoxieBoosted @Primordialchar Yeah? Almost as if moxies calc (what I was replying to) showed exactly that! Who'd have thunk it! Also, the "investment" for Mega Gengar is that it's your mega for the match, rather than something else - just bringing SPA Gengar doesn't commit as much

@SoliSolitaires Johto's flaws are readily apparent and hard to avoid, even in a regular playthrough (wonky level curve, gen 2 mons being relatively weak on average compared to other gens, relative rarity of gen 2 mons before reaching the Elite Four)

@SoliSolitaires Counterpoint: Unovas flaws are either things that are only flaws outside of the context of Unova (evolution levels), or are weird experimental decisions that are easy to miss in a casual playthrough (White Forests gimmick, elemental gems being unbalanced A.F.)

@EnigmaticGaymer @baracodes @MoxieBoosted It's in a similar position as Mega Pinsir - it has a better defensive typing, but also a significantly lower speed stat. And Mega Pinsir was OU in XY! ... But UUBL in SM. And probably wouldn't cut it in SV with how power creep has been.
