@oldguy_steve Yep. Also if i am waiting on mail from 1 town over, it goes through the main distribution center then back to me taking at least 4 days. But when I mail a check to the IRS in Austin 4 counties over it gets hammered in 2 days.

As an Amazon Prime member, I receive packages I order this afternoon at my doorstep by 8:00 AM the next morning. Meanwhile, if I send a letter across town, it goes through three distribution centers across two states, and takes a week to get there - if it doesn't get lost in the process.

Postmaster General David Steiner is asking Congress to allow him to borrow more money to cover costs as well as to increase the price of a U.S. first class stamp from 78 cents to 95 cents.

Here is a cool cut away of a Cadillac Northstar V8 engine. It was an engineering Marvel at the time, but ended up giving Cadillac a big black eye. These engines are powerful, and once touted as one of the smoothest running engines ever made. It featured an aluminum block and cylinder heads with cast-iron cylinder liners and four valves per cylinder. But while its design and performance was very impressive, it became infamous for significant reliability issues most notably head gasket failures. It had head bolts that would stretch and pull out of the aluminum block causing coolant loss and severe overheating. As a technician one of the things I thought odd about this engine was its starter location. The starter was inside the engine under the intake manifold.! The engines can be fixed but it’s a fairly expensive operation. These engines were produced from 1993 to 2011 and was an example although it looked good on paper, in real life It just didn’t work out so good.

@smokefatsalt Yep. Once the wealthy line up for anything it becomes a rich man's game. Nascar, drag racing, muscle cars, deer hunting, etc.

@riverrat328 Geeze, I'm sorry for the hard luck. I drive a 2011 Ford F250 that I bought brand new. 6.2 gas engine. Im gonna keep that truck running because no one makes a new truck currently that I would remotely be interested in. Quality has gone so downhill in the last 10 or so years.

@MrsMassacre Lol, south eastern Wyoming was literally carved out of the Republic Of Texas.

@TS_Secrets Simple PLC controls, encoders, proximity devices etc. Really not too complicated as compared to the drilling industry and it's implementation of A/C drive and modern hudraulics.

There are only about 25,000 elevator technicians in the entire U.S.
Let that sink in.
Now think about how many elevators exist:
• Apartments
• Hospitals
• Hotels
• Office buildings
• Airports
Every single one needs maintenance… forever.
Now here’s where it gets interesting:
Elevator techs make $100k on average
Top earners clear $150k+
With overtime in big cities? Even higher.
And the “training pipeline” everyone talks about?
It’s not 4 years of college.
It’s:
• Apprenticeship programs
• Trade-based training
• Earn while you learn
So let me get this straight…
We’re telling 18 year olds to take on $100k+ in debt…
Instead of pointing them toward a career where they can make six figures fixing elevators?
Here’s the controversial part:
The shortage isn’t because the job is bad.
It’s because no one is telling kids this path exists.
We’ve marketed college.
We’ve ignored trades like this.
And now we have a massive gap.
In 10–15 years?
The people who chose these “invisible trades” are going to look like geniuses.
Fun fact: only one out of the three elevators worked during our trip and average wait time was 10-15 mins.

@HRPSCMV @401_da_sarpanch @CVSA @HRPS_Traffic @ONtransport That's a center support bearing. They do go bad and should be replaced about every 75,000 or so miles.

@scottwestacre Look to be ready to drop. They will end up in a tractor tire soon.
English

@kelvin_hams Yeah, but it will get the job done without waiting on a factory tech to fly in and troubleshoot it.
