Congratulations on a successful launch! This was the speech! Distinguished guests, fellow tourism enthusiasts, and most importantly, the visionary young women in this room: Good morning/afternoon. Standing here as Miss Tourism Uganda, I am often asked what "beauty with a purpose" truly means. Today, looking at all of you, I see the answer. It is the drive to take our natural heritage and turn it into a legacy of empowerment. The launch of the Girls in Tourism Association isn’t just another event on the calendar; it is a milestone for the industry. For too long, the face of tourism has been about the destination. Today, we are making it about the people—specifically, the incredible women who have the power to transform Uganda’s hospitality and travel sectors. Tourism is the backbone of our economy, but its heart beats through the stories we tell and the service we provide. By empowering girls to take up space in this industry, we are: Creating Leadership: Moving beyond entry-level roles into decision-making positions. Preserving Culture: Women are the primary custodians of our traditions, crafts, and stories. Economic Independence: Providing a sustainable path for young women to build businesses and support their communities. My Commitment to You To the girls joining this association: Your voice is your greatest asset. Whether you want to be a tour guide, a hotelier, a conservationist, or a travel tech entrepreneur, know that there is no ceiling to what you can achieve in the Pearl of Africa. As your Miss Tourism, I pledge to use my platform to amplify your missions and ensure that "Girls in Tourism" is not just an association, but a movement that echoes from the peaks of the Rwenzori to the shores of Lake Victoria. "When you educate a girl, you change a village. When you involve a girl in tourism, you show the whole world the true soul of a nation." Congratulations to the founders and the new members. Let us work together to make Uganda’s tourism sector more inclusive, more vibrant, and more feminine. For God and My Country.
