@GenWamala, the Minister of @MoWT_Uganda , has this morning witnessed the signing of an MOU between the @GovUganda
represented by the @MoWT_Uganda Permanent Secretary @mr_bageya
and MS Orascom Construction Company from Egypt.
The MOU is to allow the company to undertake an 18-month feasibility study for a possible Light Rail Transit (LRT)/Monorail system in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area.
The study will assess a modern mass transit system to improve mobility along Kampala–Entebbe, Kampala–Kira and Kampala–Wakiso corridors.

Security Notice to all Ugandan Citizens in the Islamic Republic of Iran:
1. The Government of Uganda is monitoring the situation in the Middle East with grave concern.
2. The Government of Uganda calls on all parties to exercise restraint, prioritize dialogue, and refrain from any further escalation.
3. In light of the escalating Security situation, all Ugandan citizens in the territory of Iran, who can, are advised to take serious precautions for their safety and leave Iran through any possible means.
4. The Government of Uganda has taken the decision to withdraw all non-essential staff from the Embassy in Tehran for their safety. Consular services are severely limited for the time being as alternative arrangements are put in place.
5. Ugandans who are staying in the country are urged to alert community leaders of their whereabouts, stay indoors and monitor media for developments. Information about evacuations will be limited until the situation normalizes
6. Due to the extremely fluid situation that is affecting international travel, all Ugandan citizens are strongly advised to suspend travel to the Middle East until further notice.
