This post is for everyone wondering why the #tatkal tickets on the @IRCTCofficial website get sold out so quickly as soon as it opens for the public. I used to cover #Railway beat in Bengaluru earlier. Inside sources gave me this shocking info. Since I did not have documentary proof, I could not get the report printed on paper: 1. The rly clerks have an understanding with tkt booking agents. They have details of those who want tatkal tickets. The minute the clerk logs in for duty, they hurriedly key in these details and book the ticket in the names handed over. The agent and the clerk allegedly benefit from it by taking money from the the psgr desperate for a confirmed tkts. 2. I also heard of this peculiar instance at Bengaluru Cantonment rly station wherein a lady clerk takes a specific auto to work daily. The agent slyly hands over the names and details of those who shd be given the tatkal tkts for the day . This ensures the agent and the clerk are never seen colluding together. And no CCTV can capture all this. Unless top railway officials or cops do an undercover operation, this scam will never come to light. Genuine ppl trying to book tatkal tickets can never get them. This scenario in just one rly station will definitely be replicated by unscrupulous agents across the rly stations in the country with unscrupulous railway clerks. Why are representatives of agents hanging around rly tkt booking counters daily despite so much brought online? Ask yourself...why is the govt rly police allowing these known faces to linger on daily? However, transparent the government tries to make a system, some ppl will always find loopholes to exploit it. @AshwiniVaishnaw @RailMinIndia

BOLSHEVISM is • Squatting on & refusing to vacate • Claiming someone else’s land as yours • Expecting taxpayers to subsidise you • Rent free tenancy CAPITALISM is • Land owners asserting their property rights • tenants paying market rates

Bolshevism is back! Communism is deeply ingrained in India. It is divided between Godless commies, agnostic commies, and religious commies. But communism with traces of Mao’s Cultural Revolution and Khmer Rouge type purges is omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient

@TinyDhillon What is so shameful about it Sir?You earn according to the popularity of your sport & sports is a mean of entertainment. You can't expect to be treated like Bubka/Duplantis when you jump almost a metre less than them. Sportsmen claiming playing for the nation is the biggest hoax!

If people who are not supposed to be experts say something like this, that is fine. It is not their core area. But for people who are supposedly professional investors, this is an astonishing level of ignorance. I do not mean to pick on this gentleman as there are many more such folks. Point is to teach and to learn. India's PPP conversion rate is 20, quibbles aside. The multiplier to get to 96 is 4.8. Theoretically, if India and US had same incomes the multiplier would be around 1. The reduction of the multiplier as a country grows is called the Balassa Samuelson effect. Some call it the Penn effect. I would also like to acknowledge Jagdish Bhagwati's work in this context. Now, PPP conversion rate drifts upwards by relative inflation difference and some adjustments. While India is likely to bring down its 4% target inflation before 2047, let us say it remains 4% and US at 2% (though they have been exceeding it.) That takes 2047 PPP rate to 30 from 20. Now a 240 USDINR then would mean a 8x PPP/MER. Such a number is flat out impossible for an economy-pair like US-India, even less so that by 2047 India will have 35-40% of US incomes adjusted for cost of living and population (like say a Chile today) at only 5% faster growth (RLCU.) Currently India has 13-14% of US incomes. Now what is an ideal multiple for 35-40% of US income. It depends on global cycle, country scale, deficits etc. But broadly it should be in the 1.5-2.5x region. Which means the rupee should be in the 45-75 region as per this analysis. The midpoint is 60, which is 4 times stronger than the quoted analysis has suggested. So unless one believes that India will have double digit inflation, US low inflation, India low growth, US high growth and all four together - the quoted number is almost impossible to materialise. I understand this is boring, step-by-step analysis but this is the only way to understand this phenomenon. Hope it helps.

Behind Gymkhana club there were 33 quarters where GP D employees were allotted. Due to close proximity they were attached mostly to PM or cabinet ministers. After serving mantriji evenings drunken brawls were common. PS Thuglak Road had a challenging task every day to broker peace between mantriji' s peons. Inside the compound to same activity with add on gossips of whose wife was seeing whose husband etc did at times leading to such brawls. A close friend DANIPS officer posted in ND District had many encounters to recall in 1980s.
Yashovardhan Jha Azad@yashoazad

Why Gymkhana Club closure is the ideal low hanging fruit to be plucked by the government: 1. Is not a voting bloc nor does it get influenced by slogans 2. Cannot be managed by subsidies bcs members dont need them 3 Has no capacity to contribute to party coffers in any way 4 Does not indulge in any propaganda nor can be used for one 5 Legacy means nothing bcs decolonisation is the theme like de-Lutyenisation 6. Symbolic value is so telling - a strike against the rich and powerful drinking away in the evenings & worse, discussing good old times 7. Since, security reason is bogus (PM house shifting) so defence establishment is suddenly reqd & right there 8. In reaction - no political party, right wingers, Left thinkers or jholawallahs can support the 'rich', nor will riticise the closure. 9 May even fetch a few votes thru campaign by the inside brigade of army and civil services coterie (with parched throats) Meanwhile 1. The official Government Club - Ashoka Hotel will not be closed for high and mighty officials and netas 2. Constitutional club will continue with gym, restaurant facilities and earn money so MPs can relax and have fiesta election exercises 3. Lodi hotel has already become a sarkari aided Monument 4. Lutyens will continue being decolonised with monstrous building . Since we cant build good old ones why not destroy them. So, There is no quality of life in India hence CEOs of indian companies based in Singapore etc. But quality of life is supreme factor in deciding abroad - both for rich and poor. All CEOs will run away. This was a place for them too. Diplomats will be bewildered. Rubio will get to know this and chuckle from inside. Foreign investment is running away. Closing of a gymkhana club will certainly figure in quality of life. If in 27 acres of gymkhana, poor housing is made or slums are settled - I will have no objection at all. These hair brained schemes make laugh in desperation and frustration. I go to gym once a month so my heart goes out to the regulars

If a Fund Manager Doesn't know which stocks will give good returns over 5-6 years. Then he/she doesn't deserve to be a Fund Manager. Especially when a couple of stocks have given Good Returns during the same period. HDFC INFY TCS ITC RELIANCE KOTAK BAJAJ AXIS ICICIBANK only representate NIFTY They don't represent Indian Stock Market. Nifty itself doesn't represent Indian Stock Market As it is heavily constituted and skewed towards a handful of large-cap and mega-cap above mentioned heavyweights. As a Fund Manager one must be capable to identify stock Cycles. Every Bull Market produces New Leaders. A Fund Manger buying leaders of past decade himself needs to learn the basics.
Ashu Madan@ashumadan4

If HDFCBANK INFY TCS ITC RELIANCE and many large caps have not given any return then why blame Fund managers ?

@SHEKARSUSHEEL Second part was brilliant? It wasn't even watchable.Pathetic script. And that sub-plot of book writing and movie making was at best juvenile and laughable. And do you believe that police commissioner would have allowed a forensic lab employee to botch up the entire investigation.

#drishyam3 Went with lot of hopes. But alas, it didn't live upto the expectations. Guess they have run out of ideas. The plot is so convoluted and the climax so hurried up and unnatural. Lot of loose ends. Hope they don't venture to part 4. The first two parts were brilliant. This one falls short.😊

"He [Ashwini Vaishnaw] stated that the last financial year was the safest in the 150-year history of Indian Railways, as accidents had been reduced by 90 per cent" We don't appreciate this kind of unsexy progress enough. As a frequent night train traveller, thank you Ashwini Vaishnaw-ji 🙏 I agree with him that most of our flying should be replaced with high speed trains. India is the ideal geography for trains, both high speed trains and local trains. We can travel Delhi-Mumbai or Chennai-Mumbai in 4-5 hours (Beijing-Shanghai is about the same distance). Now let me come to local city/suburb/exurb train networks. Japan's local train networks are a marvel of both engineering and business planning. Japan has real estate companies that run private local train networks, connecting various suburbs/exurbs. They combine train stations with shopping malls, hospitals and the like. In India, a lot of idle capital locked up in semi-urban or urban real estate can be used to finance the build up by private companies. Japan presents a very interesting model. Now my personal passion: we must build trains to every panchayat in India (250,000 station network!). Building the network will massively stimulate the economy and create rural jobs. Once the infrastructure is done, it will attract higher value economic activity. It will set off a 10-15 year economic boom!
