And your analysis is as always spot on. The depressing thing for students of history and IR like us is that we spent so many years decoding the rationality of the systems in the past, thinking that current politics must resemble that somehow… but no, we have simply gone mad and we are dressing it in some sort of rational-moralistic discourse. But the underlying operating system is exactly the kind of megalomaniac political psychosis you are describing.
Which is why I think we need a global intellectual resistance (including from within the West) to do two things:
A) Work on bringing our own societies back to a more sane approach over the long term.
B) Help the Global South understand the level and motivations of our current insanity so the largest catastrophes can be avoided in the medium term.
We are a bunch of pretty unhinged nations at this point.

We are told that security in the Middle East requires defeating Iran, security in East Asia requires defeating China, and security in Europe requires defeating Russia. We never discuss security in terms of how to learn to live together by harmonising interests and managing competition. This is by design. This is hegemonic peace, in which security depends on defeating rivals rather than managing a balance of power. Subsequently, security relies solely on deterrence rather than reassurance; diplomacy is dismissed as appeasement; peace agreements are temporary and deceptive; and war is peace. Our rivals do not have legitimate security concerns, as their policies are allegedly always motivated by aggressive, irrational, or expansionist behaviour. We have convinced ourselves that our liberal hegemony is a force for good, and that our opponents oppose our dominance because they reject our benign values of freedom. Discussing the security concerns of adversaries is believed to “legitimise” their policies, which is treasonous. The world is divided into good guys (liberal democracies) and bad guys (autocracies). We should not ask how defeating Russia, as the world's largest nuclear power, is a rational security strategy, or why our governments refuse to even speak with Moscow to discuss the European security architecture and end the war. Our governments have relabelled nuclear deterrence as nuclear blackmail to signal that there can be no more constraints. All empires can become irrational during decline. Leaders take greater risks to avoid decline, legitimacy crises at home must be distracted with enemies abroad, outdated strategies from a bygone era of strength are still embraced, and there is a tendency to double down on narratives of being indispensable, representing universal values, and dismissing all opposition as illegitimate and dangerous. Are we the fanatics?

Here’s what we know as unequivocal facts:
• The US, UK, Germany and Israel have each broken international law far more times than Iran
• There was no legal or justifiable reason to attack Iran
• The US, UK and Israel have all committed war crimes in Iran in addition to the many they have committed in Palestine and across the Middle East
• The ongoing global economic collapse is entirely the fault of Israel and the US
• The straight of Hormuz can be reopened with diplomacy and justice and guarantees of safety and security and sovereignty for Iran — something enshrined in international law already
• These facts are not, ever, presented to the general public in the mainstream media in the West because Western states typically do not have free media
• In this way, it is a small cabal of Western politicians, journalists and bankers/businessmen that are perpetually maintaining this chaotic world order for greed, power and personal gain
My opinion:
Stopping these greedy psychopaths is the most important course of action and the best way to create a better world

USA og Israels krig mot Iran har snart pågått i tre uker, men @NRKno omtaler krigen fra nær sagt alle land bortsett fra Iran. Og særlig fra terrorstaten Israel, som starta krigen sammen med terrorstaten USA.
I dag sa Dagsrevyen at de hadde intervjuet en opposisjonell i Israel, Yair Lapid. Men han var heller ikke mer opposisjonell enn at han støtter krigen fullt ut. Han snakket mye om atombomber Iran ikke har, men ikke om de atombombene Israel, og USA, faktisk har, og som de sannsynligvis allerede vurderer å bruke.
Jeg syns Kjersti Strømmen gjorde en sympatisk innsats som NRKs korrespondent i Kina. Men hvorfor tok hun ikke opp Israels atombomber? Dette er mer enn en forglemmelse, det er sensur. For heller ikke tidligere har NRK tatt opp faren for at Israel vil bruke atomvåpen.
