A new Star Wars came out today and it is making no noise. #TheMandalorianandGrogu is a pathetic excuse for a tentpole film Disney chose to release on one of the biggest moneymaking holiday weekends of all time. There is no reason this shouldn’t just be a fourth season.

Huge shoutout to @NineLineApparel for hosting us for the book signing and meet up here in Savannah! We appreciate all the work you do for our veterans and I couldn’t be more proud to be teamed up with a company!

I would literally go see it again right this moment if I could.

@LOTR_Daily_ In what year? Because I’ve played it multiple times since it cake out. I’ve lost count. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

@VadersOrder Grogu has an eating disorder and it’s only getting worse.

I agree that no character debased themselves or sense of deconstruction. Indeniable. But you agreed with my point in text (while maybe not agreeing). It’s just an adventure story.
Normal for star wars is something substantive. This want that. Yea, not every minute or line has to be about saving the galaxy, but a Star Wars movie ultimately leads to development or lore. This didn’t. Not every episode or Clone Wars, Bad Batch, Rebels was substantive but that was a tv show and not a big picture movie. Which is why this fails in Star wars standards.
I agree what it needs to rebuild. But from here? Depends on how from here you mean. But the “here” they had…they lost.
English

It was just a simple adventure story. No character debased themselves. There was no deconstruction of what they believe for fight for. It was just an adventure with two characters that are rather well liked and loved. Not everything has to be saving the galaxy. And after the controversial and divisive other films, that this was just... normal is something new and that does something for Star Wars.
And in that, it has been better than a lot of other things we have gotten from Star Wars. Not sure what you wanted, nor if it could have been delivered to you even if they tried.
Season 3 did fall off from the highs of season 1 and 2 because the studio wanted their money maker Grogu back with Mando. They also fired Carano who was going to headline a spin off show, wrecking the plans for a shared cinematic universe.
I am not sure if I would call it a waste of time. If Star Wars will rebuild and it NEEDs to rebuild from the mismanagement of the last few years, it would have to start somewhere like here.

I won’t go into spoilers here, so don’t worry about that.
A staple of genre fiction is a period of time where the main characters just have adventures. They don’t really move the plot along, they just have episodic adventures that are pretty self contained. It is hard to believe that before the 2000s, nearly all entertainment was this way, particularly television. Edward and Alphonse from Full Metal Alchemist spent years traveling around looking for the Philosopher’s stone. The Starship Enterprise was on a five year mission. Luke and Leia went on adventures for three years between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. Kenobi and Qui-Gon and then Kenobi and Skywalker went on numerous adventures together before and after the events of The Phantom Menace.
How many of these stories happened? As many as you need there to be. And that is the point. It is a staple for these kinds of stories. The same is for most comic book characters for decades. And if the stories are told well and connect with people, they become cultural legends. It has been a while since we have seen something like this with Star Wars. Everything for so long has had to have some deep galactic importance or move the galactic political needle in some way.
And that is the Mandalorian and Grogu film. It is just one of their many adventures that they had together. I didn’t find it as good as season one or two, but it was infinitely better than season 3. It breaks no lore. It doesn’t change the political map (other than Mando going after Imperial warlords, but they are all small fries). The movie felt like a few episodes of the television show. There were no locations that felt like the real world (no deserts, no forests, no jungles, no places that required armies of production people to move. It felt like a film that was just around $130 million.
I didn’t mind it. Kids would probably like it and I was happy that it was geared more for them. But a series of things like this for theatrical release won’t sustain the IP. That is reality. It won’t. A series of things like this on Disney Plus would help the brand, but we haven’t been getting that in recent years. This all goes to the topic of “What is Star Wars? What should it be? And will that sustain the franchise?” I LOVE Andor, but that won’t sustain the franchise. If the core of Star Wars is strong, it can do things like Andor… but only if the core is strong. The trouble is, the core hasn’t been strong in some time. There is a new president of LFL, but it will be at least another 18 months before you start to see anything that comes from a new direction from the previous leadership. This is still ALL the previous leadership.
I think I may write more about what Star Wars is and should be in the near future. For now, if you have ever liked Mando and Grogu as characters, go treat yourself and go see it. You’ll enjoy the film. Bring a friend. And if you have a friend with kids or kids of your own, bring them. This is more for them than anyone.

@janiczek_m @Variety Again. If YOUR initial comment is about international over domestic numbers, your comment is invalid only because the post we’re all on is about domestic numbers. lol.

I agree, it didn’t amaze. However, I believe there were mistakes. It’s over the premise and potential.
With as popculturally gigantic and successful The Mandalorian became, despite the notable fall off with season three, this movie had a clear mission with all that’s considered. Return and rebound.
It didn’t. It did nothing for Star Wars, the Mandalorian show, the Star Wars or Mando universe, any form of story line or arch, or character development.
It was a waste of time and money and potential. The lost potential would’ve drowned those in money and praise and set up optimistic, yet pessimistic, talk for months or years. But it didn’t and it’s too late. Horrible lost opportunity for the fans and for business purposes.
In my opinion.
English

@ManicMan93 It didn’t amaze, but it made no mistakes either. It didn’t suck like some of the other films or television series
