@ChrisYBaldwin Amazing player wish he could be with us for a second year

University of Houston coach Kelvin Sampson on backup center Kalifa Sakho getting five offensive rebounds against A&M after Ramadan: "That 30 days, he lost 14 pounds. I respect all our kids' religions, who they are, what they are, how they live their lives. I have great respect for every human being. Whether they're on my team or not, I respect people.
"So with his Ramadan, he was on a set schedule. What time he had to get up in the morning to eat. And when he could have his last meal at night. So he did that for 30 days and you could tell he was losing a lot of weight. But his last day was Thursday so it's no coincidence that he had his best game on Saturday. My God, the boy ate like it was last meal for two days. I said, 'You don't need to gain all that weight back in two days. Just slow down there, Hoss...
"Kalifa's a smart kid. He's got really good basketball IQ... Kalifa's been a huge, huge part of a lot of our big wins this year."

@RegistaCall Rather Andersen than Baleba. Need a better passer than him next to Mainoo

@EvanWritesOnX If Larijani actually got assassinated then was it a wildcard by IDF?

The question of what happens to Taiwan's ruling elite is answered by historical pattern.
When a small state's strategic value to its protector is extracted and its defensive posture is simultaneously degraded by domestic political paralysis,
the ruling class faces three outcomes.
The first is co-option. A portion of the elite, likely from the KMT and the business class with existing cross-strait economic ties, positions itself as the bridge to the new reality. These figures have the relationships, the language skills, and the economic interests that make them useful to Beijing as administrators of a post-absorption Taiwan.
They survive by switching patrons. This is the most probable path for the largest number of elites in Taiwan.
The second is exile. The DPP's senior leadership, particularly those who staked their political identity on Taiwanese independence and deepened security ties with Washington, have no role in a Beijing-managed Taiwan.
Their exit is to the United States, Japan, or other allied states, carrying with them technical expertise and political credentials that make them useful in exile but irrelevant to Taiwan's future governance.
The talent drain that accompanies semiconductor extraction to Arizona creates a natural pathway.
The third is suppression. A small number of independence hardliners who neither accommodate nor leave would face the same treatment Beijing has applied in Hong Kong. National security legislation, judicial restructuring, and the systematic removal of political space for dissent.
The most likely sequence is a combination of all three, staggered over time. Co-option first, as business elites and KMT figures pre-position themselves. Exile next, as DPP leaders and tech executives follow the semiconductor talent pipeline to Arizona and Tokyo.
Suppression last, applied to whatever political resistance remains after the first two waves have removed the majority of the opposition's capability.

@EvanWritesOnX How about Taiwan's ruling elites? What are their intended outcome and subsequent course of action?

@BiasedHouston It’s not like Fred would’ve been a 40% 3pt shooter rn if he was fit.

No one on the roster not named Kevin Durant and Reed Sheppard can both dribble and shoot. We don’t put up threes on volume, and the ones we put up we don’t make. We don’t suppress turnovers. We can’t attack closeouts. We play with no IQ. This is a roster construction problem.
The ‘25 Rockets were able to survive roster construction flaws by picking a struggle. I don’t think the ‘26 Rockets have picked a single struggle.

@m4h007 @AaronBastani @AliR_Ahmadi He’s a pragmatist. Will push for economic reforms and normalisation with GCC in exchange for giving up nuclear power/status as regional power.
English

@AaronBastani @AliR_Ahmadi I disagree. Pezeshkian’s message was mostly aimed at Iranians and was very human. He probably should have recorded a separate message for the rest of the world, but if I were an Iranian in Tehran my heart would be warm knowing he’s working for the people

@JackMedici1618 @_midwicket Shias will most likely never bomb/withhold water because of Islamic history and the event of Karbala.
English

@_midwicket America/Israel has bombed their water plants but they haven’t yet.
English

I can’t believe Iran is doing what the YouTuber Prof. Jiang is saying and it’s actually working 😭😭
South Asia Index@SouthAsiaIndex
Just IN:- Iran may bomb the Jebel Ali desalination plant in Dubai after U.S. bombed water plant in Qeshm Island. — Nearly 90% of Dubai’s drinking water comes from the Jebel Ali plant, and any strike could trigger a major water crisis in Dubai.
English

@WarMonitors Level Tel Aviv or at least their government if u have the balls
English

@WarMonitors I’ve given up hope Iran will respond decisively. These theatrical strikes on gulf states isn’t doing shit. You’re targeting bases when they killed your leader and half of your senior command. 99% it’s an internal pre planned and supported by the GCC and the anti hardliners in IR
English

@timeshelf @spectatorindex Irgc has a chain of command. Ayatollah Khamenei isn’t telling them which targets to attack. Probably has given them broad instructions and limits
English

@EvanWritesOnX If they allowed this then they better be ready to face Allah on the day of judgement
English

Iran is an expert at obscuring the truth. So we will actually never know the truth to this report.
But even if the numbers are entirely true, it wouldn't be the first time Iran has conducted collateral damage on its people.
And Iran is NOT the only state that does this.
Collateral damage is a common exercise for states to leverage and rally particular agendas.
Lastly, this strike may have been a wildcard.
I don't rule that out.
Wildcards are rare, but do occur.
It will not change the outcome of this theatre.
There will be no escalation beyond what has been scripted.

@EvanWritesOnX If it's pre-agreed, why is it not possible to prevent such horrific hits like girls' school?

@PremLeaguePanel @Brian_K02 Only have themselves to blame. Besides Gyokeres rest of the signings were to Arteta’s liking.
English

@Brian_K02 Look at the profile of their full-backs and midfielders. And the talent level of their starting LW and striker. That will tell you everything

JJ Gabriel has just scored an excellent goal for #mufc U18s against Wolves
