Happy 6th birthday Solana fam. They said quit. The builders stayed. They said it's dead. The code persisted. They said move on. The network's never been stronger. Just one more hard quarter.

How I Went from Studying Microbiology to Becoming a Senior Data Analyst. years ago, I was an undergraduate studying microbiology. I understood cell structures, metabolic pathways, and lab protocols. I could interpret gel electrophoresis results. But I couldn’t write a SQL query. I didn’t know what a dashboard was. And “data storytelling” sounded like something from a journalism class. Today, I’m a Senior Data Analyst. This is how it happened. Phase 1: Realizing I Was Already Analytical Microbiology trained me to think in systems. •Form a hypothesis •Design an experiment •Collect data •Analyze results •Draw defensible conclusions That’s not far from analytics. The shift wasn’t from “science to tech.”
It was from wet lab experiments to digital datasets. Once I reframed it that way, the transition felt possible. Phase 2: Structured Self-Education (No Guesswork) I didn’t randomly consume tutorials. I reverse-engineered job descriptions for: •Data Analyst •Business Intelligence Analyst •Analytics Associate The recurring requirements were clear: •SQL •Excel •Python •Data visualization (Power BI / Tableau) •Basic statistics •Business thinking So I built a curriculum: Month 1–2: •Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, Power Query) •Basic statistics Month 3–4: •SQL (joins, subqueries, CTEs, window functions) •Practiced daily on real datasets Month 5–6: •Python for data analysis •Data cleaning, EDA Month 7+: •Dashboard design •Business case analysis •End-to-end projects I didn’t move on until I could build something practical. Phase 3: Building in Public (The Game Changer) This was the inflection point. Instead of “learning privately,” I documented everything publicly. Every week I posted: •What I learned •A dataset I explored •A dashboard I built •A business insight I discovered Not polished. Just consistent. I shared: •Before/after cleaning examples •SQL snippets •Visualization breakdowns •Mistakes and lessons People started noticing. Recruiters engaged.
Professionals gave feedback.
Peers asked questions. My learning became visible proof of competence. Phase 4: Portfolio Over Certificates I realized something important: Certificates say you finished a course.
Projects prove you can solve problems. So I built: 1. A sales analytics dashboard 2.A customer churn analysis Each project answered: •What problem is being solved? •What metric matters? •What decision would this influence? That’s when I stopped thinking like a student and started thinking like an analyst. Phase 5: Thinking Like a Business, Not a Student The biggest shift wasn’t technical. It was mental. I stopped asking: “How do I use this function?” And started asking: “What decision is this data supposed to inform?” Senior analysts don’t just query data.
They drive decisions. I practiced: •Translating metrics into business impact •Explaining insights in plain language •Presenting findings like recommendations Data storytelling became my differentiator. Phase 6: First Role → Rapid Skill Compounding When I got my first analytics role, I treated it like paid training. I documented processes.
I optimized repetitive reports.
I reduced manual tasks. Within a year: •I was mentoring juniors •Owning dashboards •Leading analytics discussions That’s when the “Senior” title followed. Final Reflection You don’t pivot by waiting to feel ready. You pivot by: •Learning deliberately •Building visibly •Solving real problems •Thinking commercially years ago, I analyzed bacteria. Today, I analyze businesses. Same method.
Different dataset.

I am delighted to share that I received a $2,000 grant from Solana Foundation Nigeria Grants @SuperteamNG to level up the SuperteamNG Weekly Ecosystem Recap, and I couldn’t be more grateful. This grant unlocks: Consistent Weekly Recaps: Expect more concise and engaging breakdowns of key ecosystem updates (builder activities, announcements, partnerships, and opportunities) every week. Better Production, Better Content: I’ll be upgrading my equipment and production setup to deliver higher quality visuals. The goal is simple: make SuperteamNG easier to follow, amplify the work of builders and founders, and help grow community participation week after week. Thank you, @Harri_obi @NzubeEzudo @SuperteamNG and @solana 🙏 Let’s do more 😌

SAED: Corp Members Creating Wealth The NYSC Skill Acquisition & Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, aimed at equipping corps members with practical skills for entrepreneurship and self-reliance during and after service, concluded last Friday ; and it is indeed an impressive initiative. I joined the ICT track, powered by @MakintouchLtd (an AWS Partner), where we were introduced to Cloud Computing, Web Development, Project Management, and Data Analysis, among others. The core idea is simple: spark interest during orientation camp, then give corps members something tangible to build on afterward. However, while reviewing the ICT curriculum, I noticed something missing. There is a Blockchain Technology section listed under ICT, but there was no actual class for it. I had hoped to connect with like-minded corps members already in the blockchain space - to learn, unlearn, grow, and strengthen networks; but that opportunity didn’t exist. That got me thinking. SAED tutors are seasoned professionals, and Blockchain deserves the same level of structure and expertise. Not as a buzzword, but as a properly taught skillset - one that can spark genuine interest, provide clarity, and onboard more Nigerians into the space with the right foundation. So the question became: Which community is best positioned to make this happen? For me, the answer is @SuperteamNG. In my opinion, no other blockchain community in Nigeria currently has a more solid, functional structure. Many communities are either imitating or refining what SuperteamNG has already built. Why SuperteamNG makes sense: ➣ Proven ability to execute partnerships (e.g., Nigeria’s first structured blockchain course in partnership with NiYA). ➣ Home to seasoned professionals working across top global blockchain ecosystems. ➣ Strong leadership driving execution and growth ( Dr. Harri Obi @Harri_obi, Sir Nzube @NzubeEzudo, and the broader team). ➣ State chapters across Nigeria ; making it feasible to reach NYSC camps nationwide. ➣ A strong culture of mentorship, bootcamps, and skill-based growth. ➣ Builders of real blockchain products by Nigerian youth, for the global market. ➣ Alignment with Solana’s talent-first philosophy: earning your first crypto through skills, not speculation. Beyond education, this also creates a channel for blockchain projects to showcase their products to thousands of corps members, driving real adoption and traction. This is just my opinion, but I genuinely hope SuperteamNG explores this opportunity - leveraging SAED as a pathway to responsibly onboard Nigerians into the blockchain space. Overall, SAED remains a fantastic initiative. Big kudos to NYSC for the vision and execution.

I said during the interview that in five years time, I want to be in rooms where blockchain policies and adoption are being discussed. I want to be a data mogul and a digerati. I'll be back to quote this when it happens. 🙂
