@pedroelchileno We already established that City aren’t going to be aggressive and do the same thing they’ll do in the final.

If City decides to be aggressive in their press, Arsenal needs to be aggressive in their proposal. Invite the pressure to lure Rodri/Bernardo into Rice and Zubi to create a big gap between their midfielders and defenders and have 2 players roaming those areas for incisive or over the top passes. This will create a conundrum to they back 6 as they will constantly need to make decisions and create triangles between the FB-CF/CAM-Winger against their CB-FB. This will make the DM decide wether to cover the space and overload, leaving space for our pivot players, or be aggressive and leave space behind for us to attack. This needs to be a constant. Hope Eze is at 100% because in the absence of Merino, he will be key for something like this. We can use Eze and Trossard if Gyok starts at CF (He would move towards the left in that LW position and Trossard at the CF position. Or we can use Eze and Havertz/Jesus and Martinelli attacking that LW position. If they drop their DMs and change their strategy to a m2m aggresive press or mid/low block, then we bring Ode in to provide more control and push them backwards. But i want to see the 4 line depth in our system, basically a 2-2-2-2 with 2 players moving between the lines to provide overloads where is needed. We have to make the pitch huge for them to cover. Rodri and Bernardo cant defend transitions well nor defend big spaces, so always playing behind their backs. But their back 4 are very good covering space, so we need 2 players constantly pushing them back and making them doubt where to go as shown in the blue lines.

All things considered, Zubimendi has failed to meet his primary responsibility at Arsenal. The point of his signing was to replace Partey and Jorginho as the controlling No. 6 who sits at the base of midfield, receives from the defence, organizes buildup, and dictates the tempo. He was marketed as a Spanish metronome, but he hasn’t looked like that. Arsenal didn’t sign him to be a box-crashing midfielder.
