@Betsycashmoney You can’t conflate inability to win against a competitive team with disaster, especially with this version of the Cavs stacking 1 and 2 options that haven’t won at the highest level. It’s an even flimsier argument compared to a potential top seed collapse.

@ManuAmara Not sure I agree.... Sometimes you gotta face teams that match up well against you... But you also gotta win. "Its just a poor matchup" has been their excuse for a few years now...

Am I wrong for thinking that if the Cavs lost this series, it would be even more disastrous than if the Pistons lost...? Rarely is a 5-4 upset worse than a 8-1 upset, but I feel like that would be the case here.

@BilgeEbiri The inability (or sheer unwillingness) to understand the creative passion and will to know the bounds of ability to execute at the highest level while envisioning it as an arc that ends optimally, is a surefire sign of the inexperience of those misconceiving it as something else.

It would be so easy for Tarantino to just say that the whole 10-movie thing was silly and that he’ll just keep directing films. But he’s exactly the type of guy who’ll stick to this stupid rule while trying to find all sorts of ridiculous ways around it.

@cheo_coker Zhao just orchestrated what is likely a timeless and meditative piece on grief and about how we can find beauty and meaning within by processing it through art, and here we have the lowest common denominator doing its worst to latch on to the coattails of greatness.

Inside baseball. Feature filmmaking is about nuance and decisions. Television "coverage" is about the ability of the producers who second guess you being able to re-cut the entire thing in post. For this clickbait headline to undercut Zhao's ability is ridiculous.
Variety@Variety

EXCLUSIVE: Sources say Chloé Zhao ultimately proved a mismatch for the “Buffy” reboot, with the pilot reportedly undershot and lacking coverage, requiring reshoots. Her filmmaking style, while acclaimed, didn’t translate to a dialogue-heavy TV pilot, and the new cast’s performances were said to be under-directed, making it difficult for the characters to land. variety.com/2026/tv/news/b…

@ThethoughtL @Nithya_Shrii The extent of capability of authentically good people to reach and exceed a level of aggression, viscousness, domination over sociopaths is grossly underestimated. Good people tend to lead content lives, and the selfishness in that prevents any sacrifice for the greater good.

@Nithya_Shrii It’s less about good people avoiding power and more about how power is structured. When leadership rewards aggression over empathy, thoughtful individuals step back. Change happens when influence becomes a space where character is an advantage, not a liability.

It's a genuine shame for the world that most authentically good people have no interest in positions of power.

@JustEsBaraheni The draft is vital, so that’s a non-starter. Incentivizing winning for bottom rung teams is an interesting idea: 1) no advantage to tanking, and 2) gets those teams to be competitive against good to great teams, preserving integrity at the top rungs.

Abolishing the draft is probably the way to go, but they’ll never do that. My pitch is to completely flatten out the odds. All lottery teams get the same chance at the #1 pick.

@Betsycashmoney A) Less a comment on your response, and more towards the league "irritation" about a nonsense topic easily overshadowed by major anti-competitive issues. B) Hate leads to....suffering.

This kind of complaining is so incredibly lame If a team like the Wizards can buy-low on an injured player because theyre better position to absord the risk-- they should do so. This reads as a rival GM crying: "Wahhh, I'm mad that another team might benefit from a smart move!"
Fullcourtpass@Fullcourtpass

There is some “irritation” in the league about tanking teams trading for injured players, per @WindhorstESPN “The topic of these long-range non-competitive maneuvers was raised at a recent NBA competition committee meeting.” (espn.com/nba/story/_/id…)

@GATES_GRAND The really perfect juxtaposition here is that despite his swell of impotence, he’s an aging revolutionary who got into it (Perfidia) and remains (Willa) out of true unquestioning love (Che) and in a world he finds less familiar. Even more contrast against a potent sensei Sergio.

@MarxGasol There's such a need for economy in film, and achieving whatever you're trying to say (especially the personal parts) as a storyteller that it creates a certain fidelity that will hit just right every time with viewers experiencing that finely crafted metaphor in their own life.

Marx’s musings on late-stage capitalism “sucking on itself like a vampire” is no more apparent than the first last-gasps of Earth’s latest cancerous empire flailing to destabilize and asset strip any and all sovereign nations towards profit extraction to serve its filthy habit.

David Friedberg Breaks Down Zohran Mamdani's Win in NYC: The College Debt Crisis Has Led Young People to Socialism "It's really a revolution against the system that brought them to this moment." "Because the promise that we gave in America, the American Dream, was if you go to college, you will graduate, you will have income, you will have stability, you'll be able to buy a home." "And what we did is we increased the government's role in making that dream possible, and in doing so, we created effectively a system where we gave unrestricted access to capital, which inflated the cost of education." " People could go to school like Zohran and major in African studies and graduate with $200-300K of debt and then never get a job. The guy has not had a real job. And this is the truth for 32 million young Americans." " They all have what is called negative capital. They have debt and they will never be able to get out of that cycle." "So where do you turn in that moment? You don't go turn to corporations to solve your problems. You don't go turn to your friends and your siblings and your family, they're not gonna bail you out." "You turn to the voting booth, and you hear a guy like Zohran show up and say, 'There can be a better path forward.'  The better path forward is the government can and should do more to help." "And in doing more to help, we will increase government, we will tax the rich, we will tax the corporations. We will take all of that capital and we will redistribute it in the form of services and checks and support for all of the people that find themselves unable to take care of themselves."  "And this becomes a tipping point when the majority of the voter base ends up in that situation where they're that deeply in need, where they have negative capital." "And that is the situation America finds itself in today."
