My relatives paid health insurance premiums for nearly 30 years. Now after a small surgery costing ₹3–4 lakh, their premium jumped to almost ₹70,000 for just a ₹5 lakh cover for a couple. Ironically, the time people need insurance the most is when it becomes hardest to afford. A better approach may be: keep a basic lock insurance policy for major hospitalization, and build a separate medical corpus for regular or smaller treatments.

Govt reduced GST rates in Sept 2025. Prices of insurance, cars, and many other things came down. Within just 7-8 months, prices are even higher than before. GST cut benefit lasted shorter than expected.

The UK is currently seeing its lowest net migration levels since 2012, excluding the Wuhan origin virus pandemic. The long-term net migration fell to 171,000. A sharp decline from the record peak of 944,000 three years ago. Why are people not moving to England as before?

I know many people earning ₹40-50k who start a SIP. Then life happens. EMIs, medical bills, school fees, gadgets, trips, emergencies. So they end up breaking the mutual fund whenever cash is needed. The portfolio never really grows.

Twitter is one of the toughest app to grow. The audience here are well informed and above average IQ. If you're not pushing followers from your other social media accounts then 10K followers on Twitter is equivalent to 1M on Instagram in both efforts to grow and impact.

@volklub @AnshulGains I didn't mean anything personally to you. I just wanted to know why people buy expensive watches. You generally have good insights so i asked. I have seen people buying random expensive watching equal to 50% of their salary. (Thanks I didn't know Apple watch can manage camera)

I never buy things that are unnecessary and I personally never waste money either on anything that falls into show-off bracket, I have a very limited exposure and circle so your first perception is slightly wrong about me. This watch is extremely imp for my work because many times I don't carry my phone with me (I absolutely hate picking calls) and this watch works as an emergency tool where I can pick call from home, get to know all notifications of my work from Slack, Active Collab etc. This is my work tool basically and helps me in shooting alone too because you can manage your camera from watch itself.

@volklub @AnshulGains I never understood the purpose of expensive watches. I know you have good money but even average people buy expensive watches. What's the catch?

@AnshulGains Ultra Simple reason, it is robust & abuse worthy! There is no alternative. I broke mine SE earlier in 2023 before getting this & learned lesson in a hard way. Serving flawlessly since then.

@BaluGorade I wish people in India reduced spending on wedding ceremonies. Prices for services are often 500% inflated: Lehenga ₹50k Band/horse ₹40k Food ₹6L Banquet ₹5L Makeup ₹1L Clothes ₹1.2L Huge cost for a single day, often driven by showoff culture. Use it to buy gold/home

Today most folks are buying everything on loans, driven by FOMO. Mobile, laptop, furniture, gadgets, trips, car, appliances, even marriage. If you are buying all of these in cash, you are already ahead of the game.

@Normal_2610 Yes Mr Normal. India over-prioritized inflation control vs growth. strict targeting helped win election but has stagnated economy growth and wages, while global liquidity doubled in 10 years in dollar terms.

India total economy was smaller than the US state of California Yet the government sometimes behaves as if it can dictate terms to big foreign investors, This attitude is pushing investment away. India net FDI fell 96.5% to $353 million in FY25, the lowest ever recorded, Quality control orders went from 14 in 2017 to 765 by December 2024. 2015 Model BIT asks foreign investors to exhaust local courts for 5 years before they can seek international arbitration. None of this happened because of a weak government. It happened because a strong government believed its own growth story and stopped fixing what was broken underneath, Political comfort is the enemy of economic reform. The headline GDP number says India is the fastest growing major economy, The per capita GDP number in dollar terms says India is 16th in the world, behind Bangladesh and Ethiopia. The rupee fell about 5.5% in 2025 and became the worst performing currency in all of Asia. That was the seventh consecutive year of decline. When you measure growth in a currency that keeps losing value, the number on the scoreboard keeps rising but the purchasing power of every Indian keeps falling, The scoreboard is lying. The government pattern is visible now. Tax crypto but do not regulate it, Announce PLI but raise tariffs alongside, Push Make in India but terminate investment treaties with 58 countries. Every reform comes with an equal and opposite restriction, The incentive to do real surgery goes down when elections keep getting won - a macro paradox. Inflation is low, deficit is managed, politics is stable. But none of that fixes the fact that India's GDP in 2025 was smaller than California. Winning is not the same as growing
Surjit Bhalla@surjitbhalla

Indian Agents are in a deep comfort zone - sadly, that prohibits meaningful reform. The need for course correction was never larger; when die-hard optimists lose hope.... indianexpress.com/article/opinio…

@adityajakki Kerela population density is higher than Uttar Pradesh as per 2011 census. Tamil Nadu is also > 500. Lower population is better for Kerela as it is mostly dependent on gulf remittance Govt policy should reward taxpaying parents by giving 1 year tax free on child birth.

Charts summarising the state of Indian birth rates, death rates, infant mortality rates and fertility rates as per sample registration survey released today... Sample Data is for 2024... While for directional purposes this data is good, we will get more accurate data after Census 2027. Look at those birth rates and fertility rates for some of those states Keralam, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Bengal, Andhra, Maharashtra, Delhi, J&K, Telangana and Karnataka But Keralam and Tamil Nadu are totally at apocalyptical level... Whole societies are disappearing in front of us This is disastrous for Southern most region of India Imagine Southern most part of the subcontinent losing such a chunk of Tamil population from both Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu And what is that death rate for Keralam? 2nd worst death rates after Odisha... Keralam has best numbers on infant mortality... Which means it has become so old that now the whole generation is just dying and new generation isn't having babies at all @unraveaero @cvkrishnan @Pagancholo @PaganAlt @AryamanBharat @addheeraj @TheWand68425335 @Pradip_K_Varma More charts for you @Prakhar81420407 and link censusindia.gov.in/nada/index.php…
