🚨BREAKING: 100,000 U.S. troops and $60 billion a year defending Europe — and zero help on Hormuz. Time to bring them home. No more free rides.

The US created NATO to help protect Europe and let rebuild post WW2. We used NATO as a deterrent to win the Cold War. It was useful to US foreign policy then.
The Soviet Union is gone and Europe is rebuilt. The only reason we maintained the relationship at this point was for power projection and logistics. If Europe is going to deny those benefit to the US there is no reason to maintain it. Many in the US have wanted out of NATO for a long time. Europeans just recently gave their argument a ton of weight. Now it’s just a matter of time.

Because the US doesn’t take the decision of leaving NATO lightly although you all seem to think Trump is just reckless and non-calculating.
Like Rubio said in Munich, we are rebuilding the western alliance in a strong and unapologetic way and we want to do this WITH our European allies. We will do it alone if we must but we’d rather do it with Europe.
But either way we are no longer going to be polite and orderly caretakers of the West’s managed decline

@AndreasSteno Im Canadian. I admire Denmark, love your feed, my wife went to Copenhagen twice for work and loved it there. But Denmark is a city-state by North American standards. The population is metro Toronto or Miami. My cabin is 1.5x the distance from the German border to Skagen.

NATO insists US doesn't need to own Greenland; having bases there is good enough for natl security. But NATO countries just refused us access to OUR bases to refuel, they won't even let our planes overfly their airspace. They just proved the point why we DO need to own Greenland. dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1…
