This is literally the final bear trap before the start of #Altcoin season. Soon, daily gains of 20-25% will become the norm. Don't give up now.

So Carlsen decides on the format, the dress code and the title regulations?

@chesscom Exactly. Be happy that there is a "shared title" now. Start your new year with good vibes. 😜

A reminder of what FIDE wanted to get out of having the Rapid and Blitz World Championship in New York: To showcase chess to potential sponsors as a serious high class sport to invest in.

@srinathchess Not wrong just because you say it‘s wrong. Something new to chess, good decision. I’m really wondering why folks start hating „shared titles“ in the current world. Sure lots of folks love it, so I do.

It's wrong, of course, at many levels. It also shows Magnus's instinct to resort to blackmail if Fide insists on following the regulations. youtube.com/watch?v=FpL6Fw… Where does power reside in the chess world, in 2024 or 2025?

Magnus : "If they like refuse, we can just play short draws until they give up." Isn't this match-fixing, @FIDE_chess? Dubov & Nepo were double forfeited last year for pre-arranging a draw, why wasn't similar action taken this time around?

This is an unacceptable behavior and I am happy we don’t have to suffer this in our own environment. That’s one of the reasons why I believe it’s important the categories are separated as especially in terms of behavior women are more respectful to each other.

@fionchetta It’s ridiculous that the „chess avantgarde“ tries to be a part of WC conversations, they will never be a part of or even close… They spilt the titles, why not mentioning something like „great sportsmanship“. I would assume other sports would celebrate this…what a pity!

So you pay $80,000 each to two absolute elite chess professionals to fight for a World Championship title by playing two days of blitz chess after a restday, and when they say we are tired FIDE just goes Sure! ????

If only I had known that the rules were flexible, I'd have lobbied for all 10 players who tied for first to be included in the knockout. Or, if we can have two co-champions, why not 10?! Alas...

I understand that many people have criticized my decision to split the World Blitz Championship, and rightfully so. To be fair and consistent, I will also be splitting one Classical Championship each with @lachesisq and @HansMokeNiemann to help them achieve their goals.
