@psyopkiller @LevAkabas Probably that plus the Cavs going 8-0 in the 1st 2 rounds while Orlando went 6 in the 1st round and 7 against a KG-less Boston (who went 7 against a mid Bulls team).

walt frazier point guard lineage is probably the best ever and he’s just rarely mentioned in all-time PG talks or in conversations about what classical/pure PG play even looks like

Not even those last 3 games, but 16 Bron wire to wire gets massively underrated just due to proxy of (arguably) peaking the same year as a 73 win, offensive supernova season

@francistennn I think with Klay you can point to often getting replaced by Iggy to explain his defensive number being meh and playing with Steph and KD for not huge offensive swings, but I have harder time seeing it with Parker. I guess there is the Manu factor

just using them as a template: klay-types who can absorb real volume give dray-types who can’t absorb volume themselves something to accentuate at scale, and it’s why high-ceiling players often need parkers/welkers/klays doing uglier labor and sacrificing their body for the cause
𝐹𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑛@francistennn

volume absorption is underrated, but even more what volume absorption looks like outside a helio context: peak klay was almost anti-usage and still absorbed insane volume — best-guard POA reps, constant motion, then scaling both up in transitional lineups

@francistennn So is there something your seeing in the lineup data then? Parker has one Top 30 O-Darko and one Top 30 3yr ORapm season. Klay looks better, particuarly pre-KD but I feel like there is mismatch between the numbers or general perception.

Luka just had an outstanding month and I can see the impact angle for Wemby… but how could Shai possibly make a better MVP case? GOAT-level scoring season with high-level playmaking and plus defense with a +15 on-court NET. Feels like it’s still taken for granted too much.
Carson Breber@Carsobi

Shai is scoring 31.6 PPG and there are *29* players this season who miss more shots per game than him The efficiency at that volume is just completely mind-boggling

@statmuse This is a pretty disingenuous comparison. Doesn't include assists, True shooting, per possession numbers, plus-minus, or turnovers.

@shane_pruitt78 Biblical Christianity has always been radical. We (as in people) water it down to fit into our worldview and comfort zone instead of being willing to let it reshape our lives. Truth is often uncomfortable but necessary.

OMG I have NEVER seen this before 🔥🔥 Colts ran a fake punt on 4th down they converted Next play, on 1st & 10, they left the punt team on the field! And ran a fake punt again! Texans had no clue what was happening and had too many men on the field ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!

@SportsandMath1 For sure I could do more granular than each quarter. The challenge of course is every game having a different number of plays.

Something new I've been working on: each team's average win probability throughout the course of their games. Nice visualization to see how the Bills and Broncos rely on 4th quarters, the Bears are a rollercoaster, the Rams and Seahawks are in a league of their own, etc.

FYI - I am still honoring what I said on this. If you post a picture of your copy of Basketball beyond Paper, I'll send you the formulas for the Four Factors Accounting in there that uses box score stats. It didn't quite make the book because I didn't quite solve it in time.
Kevin Jewell@kevin_jewell_11

@DeanO_Lytics @Bballjunky11 Dean, I'm not sure if you're still honoring this. Finally finished last night after purchasing it during the Nebraska Press sale! Thanks for pushing the game forward. Insightful read, particularly the parts about not game planning for the opponent.
