Imagine the Middle East without radical Islam.
When History rhymes, the song is sometimes beautiful.
If Hamas hadn’t made the catastrophic mistake of October 7, an act of arrogance and evil, Israel would never have had the legitimacy to dismantle Hamas entirely.
If it wasn’t for this Hamas mistake. Hezbollah wouldn’t have been obliterated by pagers in one of the most incredible military ops
If Hezbollah wasn’t oblitirated, Assad would still be leaning on them to prop up his brutal regime. No collapse. No completed Syrian revolution.
If Syria hadn’t shifted, Israel couldn’t have cleared the radar corridors and military infrastructure stretching eastward.
If those corridors weren’t cleared, the 12-day war couldn’t have happened the way it did.
And if that war hadn’t happened, the Iranian people would not have revealed what may be the most important development of this generation:
Their courage.
The liberation of the Iranian people may be the defining event of our era.
Iranians are among the most intelligent, creative, and ingenious people in the world, every bit as much as the Jewish people, if not more. These are ancient civilizations, builders of empires, poets, scientists, traders. Just look at the Iranian diaspora.
This is not a new bond
2,500 years ago, Cyrus the Great freed the Jews from Babylonian exile and enabled the rebuilding of Jerusalem.
In a very real sense, Cyrus was the first Zionist.
Perhaps we have been living with a 2,500 year historical debt.
And perhaps now in supporting the Iranian people against a radical regime that hijacked their civilization we are simply repaying a favor.
Zoom out.
At the same time, the UAE is pioneering a forward-looking Islam, modern, ambitious, not obsessed with jihad. Saudi Arabia is also following.
The choice is clear: Build with Israel and the West or cling to radicalism and decay.
Imagine a Middle East led by Persians, Jews, Arabs innovators, engineers, entrepreneurs, instead of militias and martyrs.
Imagine what this region could build in the next 100 years if it chooses cooperation over destruction.
Imagine.
