“We proposed an expiration date [that] allows us to strike on May Day. We invite unions to align their contract expiration dates with our own […] If we’re going to truly take on the billionaire class […] it’s important that we not only strike but strike together” @ShawnFainUAW

It's kind of incredible the degree to which AOC can't win with segments of the left. Her statements immediately shift the overton window significantly, and now because parts of her position (but not all) are being adopted more widely she's automatically treated as suspect again
welcome to our trash revolution@trash_panda97

genuine question: if AOC, lander and J Street all have the same position now, does that make it an antizionist position or a liberal zionist one? or some secret third thing?

Union busing multinationals corporations blaming “the union contract” for limiting from being a high road employer despite $416B in revenue. Curious whether Apple offered a single impact bargaining session, a single MOU
More Perfect Union@MorePerfectUS

Apple is closing down the first of its US stores to unionize. Apple says that because of the collective bargaining agreement with these workers, they "couldn’t offer to transfer them to nearby locations.” The union is outraged, and exploring options to hold Apple accountable.

Yeah I suspect @JulieMenin is going to find out that NYC can either raise taxes on the super rich the easy way (with her support) or the hard way (with her bulldozed into a political ditch). The idea that Mamdani is going to cut billions from the budget just so Julie's taxes don't go up slightly is not serious.
Asad🗽🍎@AsadFromNYC

“Mamdani has almost 15 million followers, and his base remains deeply devoted. They’re ready for a fight. What happens when the messaging apparatus that helped unravel Cuomo is aimed at someone else? Hochul and Menin may find out sooner rather than later.” nymag.com/intelligencer/…

Every day, we’re pursuing small changes that make a big difference: like creating a map of licensed childcare providers in New York City. Explore the map at nyc.gov/childcare — you can filter by distance, cost, facility type, and more.

Cannot emphasize enough what percentage of messages in neighborhood mom chats are “does anyone have a spreadsheet of all the childcare places around here” - this is a small thing that’s a big service.

The Economist and Bloomberg also called the downing of fighter jets an “escalation” by Iran. Everyone knows you’re supposed to just let invading militaries bomb your universities and girls’ schools and apartment buildings and that shooting back is an act of unhinged aggression.
Nima Shirazi@WideAsleepNima

The New York Times is now describing Iran's very normal acts of self-defense - shooting down American jets that are BOMBING THEIR FUCKING COUNTRY - as an "escalation from Iran's leadership." Completely unhinged to publish stuff like this.
