Imagine a church receiving so many donations that the leaders have to tell people to stop giving. That's exactly what happens in Exodus 36. youtu.be/U-xYyfK7brE

@johnpauldickson @WWUTTcom Not sure. How do you feel about "cure of souls"? Isn't that very close to what we now call “pastoral ministry” or “pastoring”?

“But Deborah!” was not a pastor. “But Phoebe!” was not a pastor. “But Miriam!” was not a pastor. “But Esther!” was not a pastor. “But Junia!” was not a pastor. “But Mary!” was not a pastor. There are no women pastors in the Bible. Women cannot be pastors (1 Tim. 2:11-3:7).

There’s no papal primacy over Christendom in those mentioned fathers. Nor is there sacrifice in the Didache meal itself, in the Catholic sense of representing to God the sacrifice of Jesus. Rather, in the Didache the service/thanksgiving as a whole is sacrifice. Anglicans believe that. It’s in our liturgy. The bread and wine, however, are not a sacrifice in the Didache or the Prayer Book. Prayer Book Anglicans accept those other things you mentioned.

To my Protestant friends, when I read Ignatius (~110), Justin Martyr (~155), and Cyprian (~250), they sound pretty Catholic to me. Real Presence, bishops, apostolic succession. What do you think is the strongest historical evidence they actually weren't?

Technically, you are correct. And we all know technically correct is the best kind of correct, however: Ephesians 4:11 says Christ gave pastors and teachers to the church, and Acts 20:28 commands the Ephesian elders to "shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood." Peter likewise tells the elders to "shepherd the flock of God among you" in 1 Peter 5:2. Pastoring describes the work of shepherding the flock under Christ, the Chief Shepherd. Qualified elders are called to teach, oversee, guard, and shepherd the church of God. So, what is the Biblical definition of a qualified elder?

@WWUTTcom Apart from Jesus, there are no named “Pastors” — male or female — in the New Testament. Not Paul. Not Peter. Not Timothy. Not James. Not Silas. Not anyone.

@BrysonGray Taken in context, all these Bible verses say the opposite of what Bryson is saying. This is why it's important not to take the Bible out of context.

The Bible is explicitly clear on these things even though they are controversial. 1. You can lose your salvation. (Hebrews 6:4-6) 2. Faith alone is unbiblical. (James 2:24) 3. Salvation is for those that obey (Hebrews 5:9) Saying otherwise is denying God’s word.

@AshFarms @SoveyX Depending on the church and the preacher, you could also have everybody on the floor. 🤔

@farmingandJesus @niclucylife I makes me sad, the ratio of likes to your power compared to hers. She gets 1k hearts for posting idolatry. Meanwhile you get 100 hearts for posting the truth. Sad.

@niclucylife You know you can pray to the father in the name of the son as the Bible instructs us to do for free? :) no Hindu beads needed.

@5Solas AND can get any of God’s grace via Mary’s prayers for you? That’s another good one.

@adelethelaptop Sadly that’s a limitation of pdf document. However there are various converters. Have you tried Calibre? Calibre transforms the PDF into a reflowable book format.

I can see you are equivocating. The issue is whether Mary holds a mediating office between sinners and Christ or between sinners and God. Rome calls her Mediatrix. Scripture says there is “one mediator” between God and men: Christ Jesus. He alone mediates because He alone “gave Himself as a ransom for all” (1 Timothy 2:6). Mary did not give herself as a ransom. Christ did. Of course the latest pope says she shouldn’t be called mediatrix anymore. So what does that tell you about Rome before he said that? @lauriejkane @carter_schmelz @5SolasMissy Jesus is our Advocate because He is the righteous One who made propitiation for our sins: “we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” (1 John 2:1–2). Scripture says there is “one mediator” between God and men: Christ Jesus, not Mary (1 Tim 2:5).
