@leckiegeorgia @NHS_GM Absolutely ethics is the crucial issue. Failure to correctly identify need is unethical. Saying that they are “meeting need” when they are not is unethical. I’m in private practice and having to call this out all the time with local NHS services. It’s embarrassing.

@MarissaGPWebb My biggest issue is the ethics... on NHS paper he doesn't need SLT - because they don't write the correct information. They did offer reassessment (waiting on new report) they known him since age 2!! And on paper no idea of his real SLT needs 🤷‍♀️ never mind actual SLT. @NHS_GM

Fed up! I've tried everything to improve SLT services- They missed every opportunity for early intervention. Now my son struggles in EVERY area, cried reading his end of year report 😢 💔 I've left lockie behind 😢 well they have! But I will get him sorted 🙏

The Government’s planned investments are not for the kind of support the 78,000 children who have Educational, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for speech and language challenges need. Any changes to EHCPs MUST improve support for these children, not take away parents' rights.

It’s been lots of negativity and moaning on her recently, but I’ve had a breakthrough this morning and the NHS have accepted my initial diagnosis for a student 🙏 it’s been a year but we got there

@SLT_Francesca @talkingoutcomes The fees should cover more than the website and CPD opportunities. I think Francesca is frustrated that we are struggling with unethical EHCPs being written whilst our reports are ignored and our clients are suffering. Surely @RCSLT has a duty of care to the profession.

@talkingoutcomes I wish I had the time to explore it more but I work 8-8 with my current caseload and helping families to fight the broken corrupted system, I don’t find it easy to navigate either - it’s just personal opinion 🤷🏽‍♀️ 🥹

From the outside they appear resistant to work with feedback/ progress/update

I found out today that Kent LA are no longer writing EHCPs with SALT in. SALTs breaching HCPC left right and centre - it is embarrassing to the profession & if you’re a SALT that is complicit in this, I hope your children never need speech and language…

Yet he's needing constant 1:1 all the time. They don't give a shit and now I'm having to take them to a tribunal... tired exhausted mother right now

It is cheaper to pay for the cases that go to tribunal as they represent a small percentage of cases than it would be to actually fund the delivery of necessary provision. The sad part is the lie -“This is all the child needs” when we all know it’s not!

I’m still trying to get @RCSLT to weigh in on this publicly. Am I fighting a losing battle? @SLT_Francesca are you able to enlighten on the outcome of your meeting and whether there is a clear next step?
