@2147mill So where is the 300,000 coming from to invest in the Nasdaq?

Following on the rent vs buy debate: £300,000 house. → Mortgage interest: £12,000/year → Maintenance: £3,000/year → Insurance: £800/year → Stamp duty: £10,000 upfront → Total real cost: £25,000+ year one £300,000 in the Nasdaq instead. → Average 15% annual return = £45,000/year → No boiler breakdowns → No roof repairs → No estate agent fees when you sell Someone else fixes the boiler. Someone else pays the buildings insurance. Someone else handles the maintenance. Renting isn’t throwing money away IF your money is working hard elsewhere. Sometimes it’s the smartest trade in the room.

@UK_Compounder @2147mill Plus you don't stop paying rent after the 25 years. It carries on. So if you are 25 and pay your mortgage off after 25 years, your monthly surplus money goes up dramatically. Whereas renting you still have the same outlay. Plus you can reinvest that surplus into pensions etc

Rent £1,200 x 25 years = £360k (£1.2k for illustration is less than UK average rent) Same cost over the period in this example. One way you own nothing. One way you own an asset, with the likelihood of significant appreciation over a 25 year period. Even factoring in maintenance and insurance... I'd rather own any day. There's no one size fits all approach, and suitability will be different for everyone. But I don't think your assessment of the comparison is fair. Property seems to get a bad rap on FinX!

The average UK mortgage is £200,000 at 5% over 25 years. Total repayment? £350,000. You borrow £200K and pay back £350K. £150,000 straight to the bank. For nothing. Then you pay to fix up the house. Stuff breaks. You pay insurance monthly. Fees when/if you sell the property. And we act like renting is throwing money away. There is a strong argument for renting.

@henrywinter I suppose managers go with players that trust the most, to carry out their gameplan. Clearly Tuchel dosen't trust him, or doesn't like his ego

Trent Alexander-Arnold plays right-back for Real Madrid. Started home and away against Manchester City. He won the Premier League and Champions League at right-back with Liverpool. He’s used to dealing with pressure. He’s taken a decisive tournament penalty. He’s played in the World Cup before. He has occasional defensive deficiencies but he brings a long-range passing skill that few possess. Are England that blessed at right-back that they don’t need Alexander-Arnold? That he isn’t amongst the best 30 outfield players available to Thomas Tuchel?

@LFCApproved @JamesPearceLFC What are you on about. Liverpool are one of the best, smartest, run clubs in the world, right now. If they believe it’s not viable, then it’s not viable.

Exclusive: Liverpool owner Fenway Sports Group has shelved plans to buy a second football club. Around 25 clubs analysed in depth over past two years with strong focus on Spain, Portugal and France. But multi-club project now regarded as “dormant”. nytimes.com/athletic/71317…

Hello Mr Gedders Not sure where you have managed to get that from 🙈 All we have asked is to show players respect and support and not call them Step 5 players 😊 The effort they have put in, they deserve to be shown respect 😊 #WeAreCorby

@BenBocsak It’s really interesting about Wharton, because everyone is talking about our lack of legs and dynamism in midfield but are craving Wharton. What he does with the ball is sublime, what he does without it , not so much

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Wharton’s body orientation when receiving the ball, and then the execution of that pass. Utterly sublime. There isn’t another English midfielder like him right now.

@liverpaul66 I'm not denying that, but no matter how long or hard you train, it doesn't get you match fit anyway. But not fully training and not getting lots of minutes has an effect

@publicradionerd That's such a lame argument. Klopp did fail to win the league with that squad btw. Slot did change it tactically, Salah given licence (aided by Gravenberch's new role and form) and excelling. Yes he spent money this season, but also lost the likes of Diaz and Jota (😢)

Cruel blow for exciting #LFC youngster Joshua Abe. His season has been ended by a leg bone injury suffered on duty for England U16s. Will see a specialist this week to determine best course of action.

@KieranMaguire You are talking about one country with a handful of teams that compete for the top prize. How can you regulate that over the many countries? Transfers between clubs is also the bread and butter for keeping clubs afloat

Unlike football, the NFL operates a flat salary cap (and collar) which limits player salaries to $301.2m (for the season). This means there is greater competitive balance, as evidenced by having 7 Super Bowl champions in last 10 years.
Brian McCarthy@NFLprguy

NFL clubs were informed today that the salary cap for the ’26 season will jump $22 million per club to $301.2 million. Add in another $77.6m in benefits & that’s $378.8m per club in player spending. Tremendous growth

@BernadetteStric @nik8000 @kskira888 I’m not gullible about anything. Just realistic. Slot and his coaching staff see him every day of the week. See how he trains, see his physicality, see his decision making. You don’t see any of that
