A quick update from me. I am no longer working at Freejam (it is complicated). I still love all the devs and wish them all the very best with RC. I am now working on a AAA console title as a Project Director with the company I previously made 2 Silent Hill games with.

Anyone ever dealt with aliasing artifacts on "scaffolding"? It's not just an LOD problem because foreshortening causes it even close-up. All my ideas off the dome are, like, overengineered shader tricks :( #gamedev

When I was young I spent 4 hours typing out the code for a game from a magazine into my grandads Sinclair ZX81. It was a terrible game but I was proud that it worked. Now, using ChatGPT4 I can type a short sentence I’m a few secs and get something 100 times better. Mind blowing.

@PathForger Some of these ideas are interesting. But we need to avoid any incentive to shoot Tower instead of enemy when two players are within range of each other. Gameplay should focus around players needing to combat each other.

@MarkDJammer Blues in a proximity charge the shield up. Over time this charge is lost (allowing players the freedom to move away from their towers) - and the charge is also drained by enemy fire. Could start matches with charged tower shields to have pacing up from the start.

New reassembly worked out quite well. The additional polish items we’re adding to it will improve it further I think. New tower defence gameplay is promising but needs quite a bit of improvement to work properly. TTK overall is too long for this kind of defensive gameplay I think

@MarkDJammer Which is why it was suggested to add 4 or 9 to the perimeter part of health calculations. The percentage gain is greatest at the lowest end and such would help reconcile RC1 and RC2's build systems for players working in smaller blocks. Materials could be adjusted to compensate.

@MarkDJammer @Robocraft2Game It'll be good to see how the weight/distance reassemble changes interact with the game. Less keen on the ghosting of non-destroyed parts during reassembly (which was a thing with reassembly from the start) but let's see how that plays out. Curious to see tower changes play out.
