Let's be clear: -Oldham have asked for a national inquiry -Labour are saying no -They are against a national inquiry -Now they are trying to deflect and muddy the water >This is *exact same* deflecting behaviour that betrayed grooming gang victims

My Labour government is fighting for change. I promised our immediate priority would be tackling waiting lists. We are delivering on that promise. thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

This is appalling dog-whistle, fishing for support at the bottom of the pond, unsubstantiated b*llocks. If it were true, Jenrick or a fellow Conservative Minister or a Con MP would have acted on it during the 14 years they were in Government.

Good news that the Metro will be back up and running. Thank you to the key workers at Gateshead Council, Nexus and NECA who have worked flat out over Christmas to make this happen

Update on the Gateshead Flyover and @My_Metro and it’s good news! 1. The Metro will run to all destinations from tomorrow! The absolute priority has been getting it back to normal and @gateshead have completed the emergency work on the flyover to enable this ahead of the expected timeline. 2. Metro will get back to normal on 2nd Jan and tomorrow will run at wider intervals than the standard timetable BUT replacement bus services will also run to support with people going to the NYE family fireworks early evening. 3. This was always a temporary fix and flyover will still need to be demolished and a permanent solution developed for traffic. In the meantime, Gateshead will do more substantive works to support traffic early in the new year. 4. As Mayor, I’ll make sure regional support is available and keep the pressure on because we know we need to get on with this and will keep residents updated. Thank you for your continued patience- we know how inconvenient it has been but decisions have been made to keep everyone safe and prevent the flyover collapsing. A huge thank you to all those from Nexus, our regional transport team and Gateshead Council who have worked over Christmas to get us to this point.
