Inequality is only dangerous because leftists use it to fuel envy and hatred of successful people. It's a very immature response to the reality that results will always be unequal. “If you cannot achieve equality of performance among people born to the same parents and raised under the same roof, how realistic is it to expect to achieve it across broader and deeper social divisions?” — Thomas Sowell

The most dangerous thing for a society isn’t inequality. It’s when the productive, ambitious, innovative and skilled increasingly decide the system is no longer worth investing in. When entrepreneurs, engineers, doctors, and taxpayers leave, and young talent gives up or emigrates... You don’t get more social justice. You get a shrinking productive base forced to support a growing dependent system. Once a country loses value creators faster than it attracts them, decline becomes mathematically unavoidable. The real question is: Why are so many of the most productive and successful people across Europe feeling alienated from the societies they built? Too much taxation, envy, bureaucracy, cultural hostility to success, broken incentives, massive government expansion, or something deeper?

@MattWalshBlog Without income tax, funding today's $6.8T+ federal budget would demand crushing 30%+ national sales taxes, sky-high tariffs, or savage spending cuts.

An American checks her student loans. She borrowed $49,548.74. After 120 payments, she’s paid $25,558.36. Her current balance? $50,121.33. After PAYING $25k… she now owes MORE than she originally borrowed. This isn’t aid — it’s legalized USURY.

@MatrixMysteries Maybe if her payments exceeded the interest, her principal would actually decrease. It's just crazy enough to work! 😆

@BowTiedBroke What do you propose replacing property taxes with? I get that you don't like paying property taxes, but they are extremely efficient in terms of economic growth (i.e. other forms of taxation reduce economic growth more). So what's the alternative? Sales tax? Income tax?

Paid my property tax bill. Doubled in past 5 yrs. Thought about the “Wealth Tax” (aka unrealized cap gains tax) that some senators are proposing. Then I thought “Heck, we already have that. It’s called property tax” Buy a property for $100K, it appreciates to $300K in 5-10 yrs, your state/county reappraises it and you owe higher taxes on something you haven’t sold. To realize that gain you’d have to sell it (which, you’ll be taxed on that as well if you are outside the exclusion amount or rules). But, as it stands, even if you don’t sell and realize that gain, we’re already paying higher taxes based on our net worth in the form of property taxation.

As Thomas Sowell once wrote: “Some ideas sound so plausible that they can fail nine times in a row and still be believed the tenth time. Other ideas sound so implausible that they can succeed nine times in a row and still not be believed the tenth time. Government controls in the economy are among the first kinds of ideas and the operation of a free market are among the second kind.”

This is ridiculous. And track and field gives their officials too much power. Imagine if an NFL or NBA ref could negate all points scored in the last 10 minutes of play off a single infraction. That's essentially what we do in track. There are no minor penalties. It's dumb.
HighSchoolOT@HighSchoolOT

Mallard Creek boys track and field was disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct after winning the 4x400 relay in the final event of the day. Had the result stayed, the Mavericks would have won the team state championship. Instead, they remained in second place.
