1,157km (719mi) in a day. Tesla ~$59 vs Navara ~$336. First 390km free (solar). ~50 min charging—coffee/lunch anyway. ~5.7× cheaper. Even at $1.70/L diesel: ~$173—still ~3× more. Same driving. Different system. #Bettrification Thank you for great image @lachiemc64
@JExodus21@WhereMyOstrich@EVCurveFuturist@lachiemc64@grok Mate if you start insults I know you have lost the argument.. when people lose, out come the insults
EV depreciate badly, partly due to people are worried about battery life on the used market.
I would personally buy a used Tesla though.. due to the depreciation.. bargain
@JExodus21@EVCurveFuturist@lachiemc64 I’d never be stupid enough to buy a new car, electric or petrol.
Stupid financial decision.
The best cars for depreciation are rav4 / corolla and Yaris
@MarkJF1973@EVCurveFuturist@lachiemc64 And even then your earlier still overstates the deprecation. How much do you think an ICE car loses in the first 12 months? After 3 years?
I remain satisfied that you;have exaggerated your case.
@roobar1984@aaronsmith@TopherField We have plenty of days we have very little wind. And the coal and gas are up to 90 percent of the energy over night .
Usually June is the month more still days .
It's not the lack of chargers... it's WAY worse than that!
They tell us we just need more chargers... if only it were that simple.
It's not a lack of chargers, it's a lack of power, and a lack of distribution, and fixing that will destroy their whole business model.

@JExodus21@EVCurveFuturist@lachiemc64 Have you ever traded in a car.. I have not overstated.. 30 trade in max . 39k will be 35k once you negotiate with the dealer.
They can’t shift used EV .
People have put up EV used prices since the oil shortage .
@MarkJF1973@EVCurveFuturist@lachiemc64 Just did Carsales search on any 2023 Tesla and chose the cheapest price - $39,990 for a used car travelled 75,000 km.
You have overstated the depreciation
@MarkJF1973@aaronsmith@TopherField 90% brown coal?
Not this decade.
8:30 pm Sunday, 11% brown coal, 43% black coal, 32% wind.
Last 24 hours, 10% brown coal, 34% black coal, 26% wind, 9% utility solar, 14% rooftop solar.
You need to update your priors.
@roobar1984@aaronsmith@TopherField The wind is doing well today in Victoria 45 percent.
During mid winter in Victoria it’s cold and still, it’s often only 10 percent. That’s when it’s 90perc brown coal.
@JExodus21@EVCurveFuturist@lachiemc64 My depreciation claim isn’t over stated, M3 Tesla cost 62k in 2023
Trade in value is around 30k probably worse.
You can obviously get some EV now around 30k new however the range of those wouldn’t get you from Melbourne to Bendigo without stopping on the way for a charge.
@MarkJF1973@EVCurveFuturist@lachiemc64 Very few people in Australia live in residences that inhibit charging and choose to have a car. And that number decreases as apartment charging develops.
The price difference of an ICE car is not as great as you allege.
Your depreciation claim equally over stated.
@calltheelectio2@aaronsmith@TopherField Ha, you owe me $50
I love Ev, what I don’t like is the champagne left indoctrination.
While good cars. They aren’t suited to half the population currently.
People are under cost of living pressure, we recognise that and we're doing something about it with more cost of living help like income tax cuts and halving the fuel excise.
It's great to see local businesses doing what they can to support their workers and customers during tough times.
Thanks to Michael and the team at @Bunnings Preston for meeting with @gedkearney and me this week.
Really busy end to the week consulting with CEOs and workers in fuel, supermarkets, technology, logistics, mining, banking and building supplies sectors about the fallout from conflict in the Middle East.
When oil shocks hit, system collapse accelerates.
Australia’s biggest electric truck depot now underway with government backing. Fuel volatility forces the shift—economics does the rest.
Infrastructure follows pain. Electrification follows.
Slow… then all at once. ⚡🚛

"Left-wingers want high taxes"
Err, no...
Left-wingers want to tax the rich. They want to redistribute that wealth to the masses, and invest in public services, to improve the lives of regular folk.
Right-wingers want to tax the poor. They want to give your money to the rich.
In the middle of a global fuel crisis I’ve got 93% battery and 415 km of driving in the tank - powered by rooftop solar.
No petrol station. No oil shock. No drama.
This is what real energy security looks like.

@John_Poelwyk@RoyPentland@BenPennings Funny paper Sydney to Canberra
Friends drive trucks, they don’t have down time to charge
Drive 3 days in split shifts
“While the Coalition claims electric trucks are not capable of transporting heavy freight, overseas usage and current trials in Australia show they far outperform diesel on both overall cost and efficiency.”

Schhhh. Don't tell people who hate EVs and claim they can't do the job.
BYD's new Blade Battery gives 400km / 248m range after just 5 minutes charge. And that's only at 70% charge. 100% charge takes only 9 minutes.
ICE is over. Technology always finds the way.
