I’ve seen some comments today about memorizing the oath, so here is my two cents:
I’ve administered the oath, both to officers and enlisted, more times than I can count to more Soldiers than I can count. It’s been an absolute privilege.
Do I have it memorized? Yes
Am I also holding a printed copy that’s small enough to fit inside my hand that isn’t raised? Also yes.
I have had more than one TBI. My brain doesn’t work as well as it used to.
I was administering the oath a couple of years ago, and my brain just went blank. It’s one of the few moments when you can’t get it wrong, and I almost did.
It’s ok to have it written down.

My theory on this whole thing is that it was a grenade that got called an IED to allow the local bomb squad to work on it without having to request military EOD support, which is generally required for unexploded ordnance.

NEW: Underwater IED detonated after it was found at an Alabama reservoir that is the sole drinking water source for about 350,000 people. The bomb was reportedly discovered during routine maintenance. Mobile Area Water and Sewer System (MAWSS) Director Bud McCrory says the discovery is "an unprecedented threat" to the drinking water. "We are fortunate that this device was discovered before it could cause serious damage to our water supply or harm to individuals," he said. The bomb is being described as a "grenade-type IED" and was detonated with help from personnel with the FBI Bomb Squad. MAWSS is currently investigating when and how the bomb got into the reservoir. Wild.

This piece of shit ….i actually had the honor of attending a folds of honor ceremony for quite a significantly large event, you can piss and moan about peoples politics, but guys like Adam here would rather see the families of veterans lose significant education opportunities just because they have a political disagreement with the founder.

Even this isn't correct. Enlisted people take an oath to Constitution - first - and also to obey the orders of the President and officers.

I took an oath as an officer in the United States Air Force to serve my Commander in Chief. My allegiance to that oath has not wavered in my 28 years of service. The President has endorsed another candidate in CD1 for Congress. It is not congruent with my assignments in life to actively campaign against a candidate endorsed by my Commander in Chief.
