In 2008, South African diesel prices experienced volatility, starting at R7.11 /L in January rising to over R11.00/L July 2008, global oil prices reaching a high of over $147 per barrel on July 11, 2008. Oil then $147 with R11/L for diesel. Oil today $115 with R27/L for diesel?

Any black South African who complains about the arrival of Europeans 374 years ago is free to go live in rural areas like it was in pre-colonial times. Except you will have more access to water, transport, cellphones, etc. Yet for some reason they wont go stay there, they all want to move to the city amongst modern privileges whilst blaming white people for their shortcomings.

While we welcome the move to cut the fuel levy to cushion the blow on our residents and economy, we must reiterate that fuel supply in the Western Cape is stable. There is no shortage of fuel. I urge fuel suppliers not to withhold supply.

Just filled up diesel at Beaufort West R18,88/l Astron next door was R25/l. No fuel shortages so far on the road from Cape to Cairo. 😇

They're not having sleepless nights, because we, taxpayers, pay for their petrol. If this truly bothered them, they would simply cut the fuel levy entirely, which would bring the petrol price down by 30%-40% for everyone. Perish the notion.
