Capitec is being paid a service fee for every ID, your citizenship has officially become a commodity. By paying Capitec, the government is taking money that could have been used to pay a permanent salary to an unemployed graduate and instead giving it to a multibillion rand corporation. They are subsidizing the bank's operational costs with public taxes. The Department of Home Affairs has been hit with a R1.03 billion budget cut for the 2025/26 financial year. This isn't an accident, it's a strategy. If they cut the budget, the queues get longer and the system stays offline. Then, they fast track the service by giving it to Capitec, FNB and Standard Bank. This is the definition of State Monopoly Capitalism. The state creates a problem by starving itself, then fixes it by paying the private sector.
