🇷🇺🇫🇷 Russian director Andrey Zvyagintsev calls on Putin to end "slaughter" after winning Cannes Grand Prix "Millions of people on both sides of the front line dream of only one thing — for the endless killing to stop. And the only person who can stop this meat grinder is you, Mr. President of the Russian Federation" No mention of the 21 people killed in Ukraine’s strike on a college in Starobelsk

Putin didn't invade Ukraine because of NATO. He invaded because Ukrainians were proving democracy works. Historian and Pulitzer Prize winner Anne Applebaum puts it plainly: Putin looked at Ukraine's democratic movement and thought, "If they can do it in Ukraine, then people could do it in Russia. So I need to crush this." That's the real threat Ukraine posed. Not missiles. Not borders. A working democracy next door. Applebaum frames the war as a fault line between the democratic and autocratic worlds. Russia isn't just trying to take territory. It's trying to erase Ukraine as a nation, reduce it to a colony, and send a message to every country that the post-1945 rules of Europe no longer apply. Those rules were simple: no invasions, no wars, borders don't change by force. Russia understood exactly what it was breaking when it crossed into Ukraine.

Sen. Kennedy: Is Russia our friend? Gen. Smith: Sir, they're not. Sen. Kennedy: Between Ukraine and Russia, who do we want to win that war? Gen. Smith: Obviously, we want Ukraine to stand independently and not be consumed by Russia. Sen. Kennedy: When Putin went into Ukraine, he thought he was going to roll in and take it over in two days like thunder on a summer night, didn't he? Gen. Smith: I believe he did. Sen. Kennedy: But Ukrainian people have fought back, haven't they? Gen. Smith: Yes, sir, they've fought back. Sen. Kennedy: And they now have some of the most sophisticated drone technology in the history of the world, don't they? Gen. Smith: Sir, they do. They're doing very well with drones. Sen. Kennedy: And with limited resources they have, they're giving Russia curb-stomping, aren't they? Gen. Smith: I would say they are. Sen. Kennedy: In fact, with their limited resources, they've knocked out 40% of Russia's oil export capacity. Since January, using their drones and limited cruise missiles, they've hit oil and gas facilities within Russia over 100 times. Not on the border, within Russia. Right? Gen. Smith: Yes, sir. Sen. Kennedy: And Putin was so scared, he almost had to cancel Russia's military parade, didn't he? Gen. Smith: I will take your word for that, sir. Sen. Kennedy: Okay.

If it was years ago, I might fully throw myself into Warframe as a replacement here, but I just think that's too ambitious in my stage of life with so little time and how much investment that would be. But it seems like a good option for many

Destiny 2@DestinyTheGame

Read the full blog at bung.ie/d2_may_21_2026 For almost twelve years, we have had the joy and honor to explore the Destiny universe with you all. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2. As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio. Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to. We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us. From the deepest part of our hearts, thank you, and we'll see you in the stars.

I’d rather vote for the AIPAC candidate than the DSA one. At least one of those is a pro america organization and it isn’t the DSA.

Xi Jinping is putting on a clinic: “The whole world is watching our meeting. The International situation is turbulent. The world is at a new crossroads: Can China and the US overcome the Thucydides Trap and create a new paradigm to meet global challenges together.” The Thucydides Trap is the structural tension that occurs when a rapidly rising power (China) threatens to displace an established ruling power that is in decline (US). By mentioning the Thucydides trap, Xi Jinping is signaling that China is the new leader of the free world and what’s remarkable is, unlike the U.S., China achieved this without dropping bombs, waging endless wars, or spending $1 trillion a year on its military. Instead China became the leader of the free world by investing in its people with housing, education, health care, and the best modern infrastructure in the world, and investing in its neighbor countries through its Belt and Road Initiative, which has funded ports, railways, and energy networks across the Global South. The US became a “superpower” through endless wars, corruption, and selling out its own people to the billionaire class while China became a superpower and surpassed the US by building trade and relations with the world and investing in its people instead of wars. Americans would be wise to take note and then change our corrupt government.

This is the dumbest lie that does the round on some of the dumbest parts of the online left. I spent all of 2024 on TV and in print urging Biden and Harris to change course on Gaza and calling them out for complicity in a genocide. It’s there in my Guardian pieces, Zeteo pieces, CNN appearances, Piers Morgan appearances, at the DNC, etc. What I didn’t do is accept that Trump would somehow be acceptable for America or better on the Middle East and I sadly stand vindicated on that.
Waqas@worqas

Here we go again. When people pushed Kamala to change her position, you threw yourself between them to protect Kamala. And now, instead of telling AOC to budge, which would drastically improve her viability, you are pushing her into the same trap you pushed Kamala into. "AOC, don't change, it is the people who must change." All Kamala had to do was go through dem primaries and acknowledge the genocide. But that was too much for her. Now for AOC the "stupid extreme leftists" must change, God forbid AOC is asked to clarify her position. Those seeking power must never give an inch.
