With Reform UK, it's always about 'looking after our own' until it comes to feeding children. Labour is providing over 6,400 children across Kent County Council with free breakfast clubs. Reform UK literally want to take the food from their mouths. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…

In the last three years of being a fan, I’ve felt that the culture with Cardiff Rugby has gone from strength to strength. The players love playing for each other, the clubs engagement with fans is fantastic and there is a family friendly atmosphere where everyone is welcome.

The Unite the Kingdom march organisers are spreading hatred and division. They do not reflect the Britain I’m proud of. Peaceful protest is a fundamental right and one I will always protect. But if protest turns violent, we will act swiftly, with extra court capacity in place.

@DaleVince The truth is that it is the Socialist philosophy that is failing us. Shuffling the deckchairs on the Titanic wouldn’t prevent the ship sinking, and swapping PM for what will probably be somebody to the Left of KS won’t prevent the UK economy failing. It’s a GE we need!!!

I just don’t think there should be a leadership challenge. Keir Starmer has a massive mandate given to him by the British people at the general election. I don’t think anybody in the Cabinet has a right to try to overturn that. I still hope there won’t be a leadership contest. If there is, it’s probable that Keir will stand himself and in which case, I’d be in his camp. What we need now is continuity. We need Labour to deliver on their manifesto. We haven’t even been two years into this government. telegraph.co.uk/gift/d0332ac86…

These are tough election results for Labour and I’m sorry to all of those colleagues who have lost their seats. Keir Starmer won a mandate to change our country. We must get on with delivering that mandate - and show how politics can improve people’s lives for the better.

Now it’s the media’s fault. They are just not telling the truth and not shouting loud about the amazing things Labour has done.

Labour spokespeople saying they don’t trust Farage. Who cares? The electorate gets to decide who they trust. It’s called democracy!

Stunned at LAB Apparently their failure is the fault of 1) the Tories 2) a stupid electorate for not understanding 3) Trump/Putin/Zelensky/Israel. Anybody in fact other than themselves. So they hear this “message” as a need for them to double down & go further/faster. WTF!

@SydneyAllMoore @Steven_Swinford Yes! Clearly. He actually believes this set of results is a message from the country that he needs to go further/faster. Trouble is that if you are already going in the wrong direction, you just end up even further away from where you should be more quickly!

@Steven_Swinford Does he really believe that people voted for him, for Keir, rather than for Labour because they wanted to get rid of the Tories? Is he really that deluded?

Here's the four arguments that Starmer will deploy with MPs in the next few days that he hopes will be enough to save his Premiership Whether they will be enough is another question 1. I am not going anywhere Starmer’s central argument will be that he will not be moved. As one of only four Labour leaders to have won a general election — a landslide victory at that — he has a mandate and he will deliver on it He has made clear that if anyone comes for him and musters the 81 MPs needed to mount a challenge he will stand against them. As Labour leader he will automatically be on the ballot paper if he so chooses There is an element of machismo: he has described himself as someone who has won every fight he has been in and said that on the football pitch he is a “hard bastard’, with the clear inference being that he applies the same mantra to his politics 2. This is a distraction Perhaps Starmer’s strongest argument can be paraphrased thus: “Don’t you know there’s a war on?” His allies say that his response to Iran represents one of his finest moments as prime minister both in refusing to join initial offensive strikes against Iran and in standing up to President Trump. Given the scale of the cost-of-living crisis on the horizon - huge rises in energy prices, food inflation, the potential for cancelled flights this summer, soaring prices at the pumps - he argues that changing leaders now would be fundamentally irresponsible 3. Don't copy the Tories This argument has been best articulated by Steve Reed, the housing secretary, who said that Labour could not afford to “copy the Conservatives and go doomscrolling through leaders” His point - and Starmer’s - is that the public are sick of the psychodrama and that Labour won the election by promising to usher in an era of stability Regicide, the argument goes, is effectively electoral suicide. If the party turns in on itself it will ultimately demonstrate that it is failing to prioritise the concerns of voters 4. Things can only get better Starmer is asking his MPs to look to the future. While acknowledging the mistakes of his first 21 months in power, in the aftermath of the elections he will come out fighting. There will be a set-piece speech pencilled in for Monday in which he will promise to go further and faster on multiple fronts Britain, he will argue, cannot afford to ignore the need for closer alignment with the European Union. It needs closer ties on the economy, defence and security He will also signal that he will support for moving quickly on social media, including potentially throwing his weight behind an outright ban for under-16s Then there is the King’s speech on May 13, which includes no fewer than 30 bills on everything from the Brexit reset to asylum and immigration and police reform thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

@Ruth_E_Hill @Hyundai_UK I went to a well known tyre replacement company, (the one that fits them rapidly) to have a tyre replaced. Fitter came into the waiting room to tell me my exhaust was blown. Sure enough there was a perfectly round hole in it.

I get the anger & disgust these cops feel. Justified, 100%. But law enforcement kicking ANYone in the head and body, to vent that wrath …esp, when they’re already down, cuffed, and pose no threat… is not acceptable policing. If it is, then we’ve become as barbaric in our own fashion, as the Muslim barbarism we all condemn.

The Muslim community in the UK is outraged at the way police detained the 45-year-old Muslim immigrant who stabbed two Jewish people in London this morning. According to them, officers used excessive force in a ‘dehumanizing’ and ‘Islamophobic’ manner.
