was wondering why there's a Habitat for Humanity truck at this ridiculously expensive project, found the answer pretty interesting based on what I'm reading, the developer gets bragging rights and/or a tax break by donating excess materials to ReStore (or if it's a remodel, lightly used materials being taken out) instead of just dumping it in a landfill

My business banker at Bofa stopped by today. Awkward as heck but a super nice guy. I've told him I absolutely hate drive byes, but he can't help himself. Today he tried to get me to move some of my business checking into a CD at a...(wait for it)....2.65% rate. Hard pass. With my AR creeping to highs, I'm fine being capital inefficient as it's annoying that in the start of year 4 of business ownership I feel like I'm rebuilding working capital in the business. What he did get me to bite on was getting a THIRD Bofa credit card with 7 months at 0%. Free money is always cool for me. There must be some insane pressure to just jam as many products as possible onto their business customers huh?

@clasbywalsh @SalTheTree @Pete___Hughes We’re in the thick of youth association hockey and high school hockey seasons right now in MN. (Which we care much more about) If this tournament is anytime after March, you’d get a much better showing.

Me and her, the morning after getting home. An early start to the first full day at home with my family in 12 months. *Not pictured; her two rambunctious older brothers and their incredible mother.

Missed the birth of my daughter in May of 2020 because I was deployed to Iraq. Height of COVID, powers at be couldn’t (wouldn’t) get me home to meet her until 4 months later in September.

I missed the birth of my son to be a scratch Dman on the road in buffalo Covid year. My wife was early and it was a precipitous labor-faster than 99% of births, so the deck was stacked. There was no hugging, no celebration. Just a quiet “well f**k. I missed it.” Met my son on FT

Hola, my name is Maxx and I am the founder of Sour Strips candy. Anyone have any business/whatever questions I can answer? Do not expect a really formal reply though because I am just a silly YouTuber and not a fancy business man

@TheJacobTurner This is an awesome, Jacob. Something I talk to my clients about all the time but this is a brilliant way to visualize it.

I like variable withdrawal rates over stagnant ones. It works like this: Investment Amount = $5,000,000 Starting Withdrawal Rate = 4% (Depends) Good Year (Market Up 20%) = 10% increase in spend Bad Year (Market Down 20%) = 10% decrease in spend

The investing industry sometimes uses terms interchangeably. Like “brokerage” in this instance. It’s okay if you’re confused by it, and don’t know where to start. Finding someone you can trust with advice for your family’s future is a tall task. I don’t envy the maze investors have to run through to find good financial advice.

Note to fiduciaries: Lets not name accounts like this: "SEP-IRA Brokerage Account." What on Earth does this mean? Poll question, what does SEP-IRA Brokerage Account mean to you?

How I am just learning about Alys Beach? Why is this place not more well known? Absolutely stunning. A new urbanism dream.

But at the end of the day unwinding isn’t that horrible You pay capital gains after getting tons of losses throughout So even if you utilize it during high income tax years and sell in lower, worst situation is capital gains cause you’ve used losses and it’s grown Lots of tools like Frec allow them to tactically unwind and keep the top 20-30 individual stocks to minimize taxes the most But sure if you’re a $1mil or so net worth, not the tool If you’re $10mil+ and it’s 20-35% of your investments, and you will keep adding to it, it’s an amazing tool Then becomes a great place for DAF contributions in the future

Direct indexing is one of the newest ways advisors pitch value of them managing your investments for you. You’ll most likely just be running on a treadmill. Financial planning-informed investment management should be a decluttering, not the opposite.
