@JamesCleverly It seems to me that Streeting has humiliated himself. He didn't have to go in there demanding a show down, and what, just cause he did Starmer should capitulate? Also, there was nothing public about it. You're doing Keir's job for him.

I’m not sure that publicly humiliating a senior cabinet minister and possible leadership rival is a good tactic by Starmer.

@SamCoatesSky I'm no Starmer fan but I think he should wait. Streeting isn't exceptionally popular and may be acting carelessly. He's exposed now, and if everyone else steps back, that would be hilarious.

First verdict I've heard from cabinet is that Keir "sort of" stamped his authority. Which I'm being told - with a touch of surprise. * He said - local election results were bad and we need to respond to that but today we’re talking about Middle East. And then they did * They all went round and said their piece That's in line with the verdict of the Keir loyalists that trooped out. I'm sure there'll be a range of responses. And still big decisions - to stick or challenge - to come

Statement from Cllr Samantha Gethen: I was asked to leave a SEND community roundtable this morning - not for causing disruption, but because the local Conservative MP, @bhatti_saqib, refused to begin the meeting until I left. I attend North Solihull’s SEND support group as a parent of children with SEND. Yes, I am also an elected Reform councillor - but today I attended as a mother wanting to discuss support for children and families. Rather than allow the meeting to become uncomfortable for the organisers or other parents attending, I chose to leave out of respect for them, and for the significant time and effort that had gone into organising the event for local SEND families. Their priorities should always come before any attempt by the local MP to ostracise me because of my political affiliation. It is deeply disappointing that a non-political family event was turned into a political issue. Excluding a SEND parent from a conversation about their child’s future is wrong. SEND families deserve to be heard, regardless of politics.

You're absolutely right. I've had two PCNs that were supposed to have been sent in the previous year or so. The only time I knew about them was when we got the Bailiffs letter with the raised fines/fees. Bank letters and others don't come through the post. I've never known it ths bad.

Honestly, you have no conception of how bad this is Every Judge, and every Magistrate, who tomorrow, relies on the presumption that 'a letter sent is a letter received' Is relying on a lie. The postal service does not function. Ignoring that will just create evil

@DanCardenMP Very well put. It seems to me, the people who Labour represent and not the British Working Class citizens but the system and the party. Those who support it, seem in thrall to the machine. They want to work for The State, not the State work for them.

Labour is losing today because we are a party that won’t say Britain is broken - when it is, won’t challenge the rules of globalisation, and we are now a party defined only through tax, spend and welfare — and with no answer for working class voters who’ve been left behind. The question isn’t how to win them back. It’s whether Labour wants to represents them at all.
