@FMLocalHistory I remember the red and white wooden barriers in the 70’s, a path worn in the grass as cyclists and pedestrians went around the barriers, sometimes they would be missing for weeks and then appear again.

Brian MagLeannain also sent these photos of the remnants of obstacles found along the Clontarf Promenade. A wooden barrier, just below the height of the wall, fitted into the grooves as an attempt to reduce the speed of cyclists. Any timeline?
