@Sammy_Roth I think I’m one of a few people that’s ridden Autopia and has dealt with CARB😂. I’m surprised Disney staff didn’t think about compliance issues with those engines. Hopefully CARB doesn’t go after the steam locomotive at Knotts Berry Farm!

I really wish these posters of public transit stats would refer to trends in productivity (ridership/service quantity) and not just ridership. You can always increase ridership by growing service, and cut it by cutting it. But that doesn't capture the most interesting trend.

Early 2026 transit data is in today, & SF is seeing a mini rail boom with Muni ridership up 15% & BART ridership up 12% compared to last year SEPTA (Philly, 9.2%) and WMATA (DC, +6.8%) are also seeing strong growth, while the MBTA (Boston) & MTS (San Diego) are losing riders🧵

Good move. The only way to redeem California high speed rail is to get some kind of service running through to the big cities as soon as possible.

California HSR just released an interim plan to connect LA once the SF-to-Central Valley alignment is finished, rather than waiting to complete 28 miles of tunnels. The interim connection takes nearly 2 hours via Metrolink, compared to the 26 minutes in the original plan.

@humantransit @jahorne Agree to a point. Our upscale suburban area uses a local taxi company (yes, there are still taxis around) so we aren’t dealing with a lot of fixed costs.

@humantransit In 2019 I got a tour of the Boring Company’s test “track” in Hawthorne. We traveled the tube in regular Teslas. The young engineers told me they were planning on running small vans built on the Tesla platform. Looks like these vehicles (buses?!) are still under design.😉

Here is the @boringcompany Las Vegas Loop going just as hard as it can. After an hour, it’s moved a little over 1000 people, a tiny fraction of what real public transit can do with this kind of infrastructure.
