That's an odd take on it. For one thing the protests in the parts of Ukraine that did not vote for Yanukovych were as in 2004 coordinated by the US (see link), but its not surprising as these areas were against him from the start. The violent Maidan neo-Nazi led insurrection however was always about bringing down a democratically elected president before he could stand for re-election. Ukraine's constitution was changed after the coup to remove the requirement for neutrality. As for the other weird comment, there's no comparison between Finland and Ukraine when it comes to strategic interests for Russia. NATO has known that Ukraine is a red line for Russia for a long time. It pushed for expansion into Ukraine knowing that this would cause a conflict.

@prestonsbates @McFaul Russia has conquered around 1.5% of Ukraine over the last three years while Russia is losing 2-2.5 soldiers for every Ukrainian. That's a huge win for a war that was supposed to last 2 weeks. Imagine how they would be doing if the US didn't betray them.
