When I was living in China I was shopping for some equipment with my Chinese co-worker. I have a remedial grasp on the language. When the vendor asked where I was from I told him I was American in Mandarin. He got very agitated and started shouting and speaking rapidly, I only caught a few words. My co-worker explained that he was saying that Americans should not be friends with the Japanese. That the Japanese are evil and Americans should be friends with the Chinese and destroy the Japanese. Communism is weird man. 😑

Imma say something. Anyone who thinks Joe Rogan is stupid is a fucking moron. Doesn't matter what your politics or feelings are. No really. It doesn't matter what your politics or feelings are. You're flat out wrong and have accomplished way less in a decade than he does almost daily. Maybe that's your problem. And I'm not even a Rogan fan boi. Just sayin. It's not about him. It's about you. All the online shit talking is such unrealistic retarded bullshit. Someone doesn't think exactly like you? Get over it and make your life something that doesn't require you to talk shit all the time like a giant worthless poon. Anyway, this post isn't about Joe Rogan, is it. No, it isn't.

Just a little side note about "experts" and online arguments and lectures about things and how Dunning-Kruger factors in. If you think you know things about something, someone else will always know more. So start by being humble and open because you might be wrong and everyone will know it but you. This happens CONSTANTLY on the internet and even IRL. Constantly. People have no idea that what they think they know about a subject is as much as anyone else knows. Not true. My entire life I've had people lecture me about reptiles - specifically snakes - based on what their grandpappy or drunk cousin told them, or the common myths that have been debunked for decades. I've had self proclaimed "experts" try to correct my confirmed identification of species. They always do this proudly, arrogantly, and with full on condescending tone. It doesn't matter what the subject is. These types of people are prolific. And we all know it. Not a single one of them memorized field guides and field research papers when they were a kid. None of them kept 300+ venomous snakes in their basement through their 20s. Not a single one of them has hunted and caught and tediously identified literally hundreds of snakes in the wild in dozens of states and foreign countries. None of them have their names associated in the record regarding a 200 mile range extention of the range of the Mexican Rosy boa (Lichanura trivirgata). Not a single ine of them spent 2+ hours in shorts and and flip flops just sitting and watching three male Mojave rattlers in combat. None of them have caught wild mambas in Africa or painstakingly explored an entire state for years to get photos of every single snake species that exists there. And they call me ignorant when I don't agree with their assessment that they've convinced themself is superior without ever confirming or qualifying their information - when is generally nil. Because it's not about knowledge and facts for them. It's about ego. There's a point where I stop even trying to inform or educate, or even entertain debate. What's the point when some asshole will dish out death threats because their bullshit story is bullshit? It was never about facts for them. Anyway. Cheers to thale actual nerds and the folks who have invested their entire lives into a subject purely out of passion and a hunger for knowledge. It's a massive investment, whatever subject it is, and a giant majority apparently has no desire and no clue what it takes. I never got into snakes to win arguments or teach anyone anything ever. I got into snakes because I was inherently interested by default. It was a me thing. I wanted to know everything about them. So I read and went into the field for decades. Some of my friends are some of the top researchers, scientists, photographers, authors, and TV producers that cover the subject, and they have all dedicated their careers and efforts on ONE subject. Snakes. We don't have to only focus on one subject, but if amd when we wanna know, we should do more than cruise a few forums or reddit posts and them talk shit on the internet. This counts for firearms, gear, military experience, photography, cars, politics, whatever whatever whatever. Someone can and probably does know more than you. If you don't think so, explore the definition and meaning of the Dunning-Kruger effect, and cognitive dissonance while you're at it. Thank you. I can actually smell the scent that a pissed off water moccasin puts off just looking at one of these photos. Being a nerd has its expenses.
