NCP has gone into administration. They’ve been running car parks since 1931, and somehow ended up £305m in debt. Surely the maintenance for a car park is simple: ticket machines, barriers, lights, and occasional cleaning. How can a business model literally based on people paying to park go bankrupt?

Introducing the ICE phone: Benefits: - Lighter (if you were to pick it up) - Quicker to recharge - Does less damage to your pocket - 2 day battery life Drawbacks: - Opens apps slower - Noisy when you use it - Many more moving parts - You can’t charge it at home, you have to go to a specialist place - Incompatible with an AI assistant that can do your work for you using it - Don’t breathe in what comes out the back, that’s toxic - Cost of recharging might be more volatile if there’s a war on

In an attempt to explain just why it is that some 77 million Americans voted for the dumbest man alive to be their president for a second time, I’m absolutely delighted to present you with the expanded list of US food that you cannot legally sell in Europe!🧵

@Kalshi Terrible idea. Meta has almost 100,000 employees so if they cut 20,000 of them the hospitals will be overrun. Especially if they’re planning on cutting them in places where they’ll need stitches or even worse, surgery

No, Plymouth City Council doesn't publish a granular public breakdown (e.g. labour, materials, utilities split). Official contract award (Jan 2026 docs): £3.874m lump-sum excl VAT to South West Highways via term maintenance contract. Total approved capital budget: £6.23m incl contingency/risk allowance. Funded by DfT Active Travel grant + Sherford S106 developer contributions. Earlier 2020 FoI estimates: £1.5m-£3.3m options. See democracy.plymouth.gov.uk for reports (search "Colesdown Underbridge").

@loftwah I agree. I also wonder if the power, and RAM requirements will become a limiting factor that slows down access. Of anyone I know who is using AI, they’re busier than ever. I actually think we’ll see an explosion of work first. Then a consolation of workforce later.

My gut is telling me that AI isn’t anywhere near taking jobs in the way people are talking about. Can we get this stuff working consistently and for it to be cost and power effective before getting excited?

@BenedictSpence @grok How much more revenue do you expect the UK government to get with VAT and Fuel Duty for every penny rise in petrol in the UK? How much extra revenue do you think the UK government has received in the past 2 weeks?
