📢CONFLICT OF INTEREST ALERT… LAUSD Acting Superintendent Andres Chait, who’s currently leading the district’s negotiations with the unions and trying to avert a strike, is the brother-in-law of *TWO* UTLA leaders (Secondary VP Alex Orozco and Director Victoria Casas) and married to a teacher who’s a UTLA member? That’s right. Chait’s wife, Laura Chait Orozco, is Alex Orozco’s sister, according to multiple LAUSD sources, who say that the relationship is well-known among employees though not openly discussed. Laura, a 4th grade teacher at Topeka Street Charter in Northridge, is also a UTLA member. Alex is married to UTLA Director and LAUSD teacher Victoria Casas. utla.net/about-us/house… Orozco is UTLA’s healthcare bargaining lead and one of its top organizers, so Chait is essentially negotiating with his brother-in-law on a contract that he and his in-laws will directly and indirectly benefit from - and could "allow" a strike that could serve to build his in-laws’ political careers.
