#Milton is now a Category 5 #hurricane with max winds of 160 mph. Milton joins Michael as the only October Category 5 hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico in the satellite era (1966-onwards).

6:00 AM CDT Monday Update: NOAA Hurricane Hunters find #Milton a major hurricane. The maximum sustained winds have increased to 120 mph (195 km/h). #Milton is now a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. hurricanes.gov

10/7 4am CDT: There is an increasing risk of life-threatening storm surge from #Milton for portions of the west coast of the Florida Peninsula beginning Tuesday night or early Wednesday. Residents should follow any advice given by local officials and evacuate if told to do so.
