Seeing people on the broader left defending theocratic regimes and berating women who criticize them -- even when those women lived and suffered under state-sanctioned misogyny. Seeing people on the broader left use misogynist right-wing memes about HR ladies with email jobs to invalidate women who disagree with men, not for their views but for their mere existence as women. It's gross, but it's a useful reminder that misogyny remains pretty standard fare even among people whose politics should reject it.

Ro Khanna (D-CA) said he believes the account of Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner's former girlfriend, Lyndsey Fifield, and urged Platner's campaign to stop attacking her and the journalists who reported on the allegations. “I believe her,” Khanna tells @margbrennan and argues “I don’t think our side should be attacking her.”

This is a fair question. And in this spirit, let me ask Democrats on X whether there are examples of people who made past mistakes that our side should, in hindsight, have extended grace to where we did not?

Lyndsey has me blocked because I clearly have locked horns with her before- and I likely agree with her on NOTHING politically. But I dare anyone to read this and not find it credible:

As someone who preferred Platner to Mills, I am incredibly angry at this guy for putting my fellow Mainers — and given the stakes, all decent Americans — in such an awful position. Susan Collins is a serial abettor of the worst forces in our country; she *must* be defeated. (1/4)

I’m sorry, Platner does not sound like someone who is comfortable being held accountable. “It shouldn’t be like this” umm well what’s done in the dark comes to light. Voters in Maine may decide they don’t care about this, but whew.

Planter’s campaign did not deny the allegations about him getting physical to the New York Times, but Platner is repeatedly denying it on MS NOW. Why didn’t they deny it in the piece?

What has become abundantly clear over the last few days is that it doesn't matter how many disgusting things come out about Platner, leftists will defend him just like maga has always done with trump.
