Here is another example hidden inside the Finance Bill 2026 & why the bill is dangerous. Transport of sugarcane from farms to factories is currently ZERO-RATED. But under the Finance Bill, it is being moved to VAT EXEMPT. Evidence below, under 157 Why does this matter? Under zero-rating, businesses involved in the transport chain can recover input VAT on their costs and operations. That helps reduce the final cost burden in the sugar production process. But once the service becomes VAT EXEMPT, that VAT can no longer be recovered. This increases operational and production costs, which may eventually be passed to consumers through higher sugar prices. And this is exactly why many people may miss what is happening. If you only read the Finance Bill without comparing it to the current VAT Act, you may not immediately notice the impact. The bill does not directly say: “Sugar prices will go up.” Instead, it quietly moves items from ZERO-RATED schedules to VAT EXEMPT schedules. That is why people must pay close attention to these changes. This is what Mbadi and Pro UDA bots wont say. And that is why many of us are saying: Reject the Finance Bill 2026.

Here is a copy from the Finance Bill itself showing the items being transferred from ZERO-RATED to VAT EXEMPT under Paragraph 157. So this is not propaganda or “misreading the clause.” It is literally in the bill. Under zero-rating, manufacturers could reclaim VAT on inputs and spare parts. Under VAT exemption, they cannot. That means higher manufacturing costs and eventually higher prices for electric bikes, motorcycles, batteries and related products.

I have noticed some UDA bloggers are now hiding behind the “read the clause properly” argument. Fine. Let’s read it properly then. First: Reject the Finance Bill 2026. The bill is moving electric bikes and bicycle manufacturing inputs from ZERO-RATED to VAT EXEMPT. And that change matters a lot. Under zero-rating, manufacturers could claim back VAT paid on spare parts and raw materials used to manufacture the bikes. That helped keep production costs and retail prices lower. Now under VAT-exempt status, they won’t be able to recover that VAT. Meaning? Higher production costs. Higher prices for electric bikes and bicycles. Consumers will pay more in the end. I have attached: • The clauses in the Finance Bill • Snippets showing the CURRENT zero-rated status • Evidence showing the parts are being moved to Paragraph 157 of the VAT Act And Paragraph 157 falls under VAT EXEMPT supplies. So please, let’s stop pretending this change has no effect.

John Mbadi said the quiet part loud. He told Kenyans, to their faces, that their vote is not a threat. That going home in 2027 changes nothing for him. That 17 years of public service has left him so comfortable that he does not even need the job anymore. He is not wrong. That is the most troubling part. After decades in public office, on a public salary, he has enough to never worry again. A man who served the public somehow ended up with more than the public he served. Nobody is supposed to ask how. But beyond the money, what this statement reveals is the attitude. These are not people who see public service as a responsibility. It is a feeding opportunity and once you have fed enough, the threats of the voter become almost amusing. Go ahead and vote me out. I already ate. This is what years of unaccountable governance produces. Leaders so insulated from consequence that they can look at the very people struggling to afford unga and say, with a straight face, that they will be just fine. No apology. No pretense. Just honesty about how the game works. The tragedy is that this kind of honesty should cause outrage. Instead it will be forgotten by next week, buried under the next scandal, the next infographic, the next rally where someone throws around money that nobody will ever account for. Dismas wa Tabu. Dreaming in installments. Billed in full.

Three Kenyans have been killed in three different Police Stations in the past one week. Benard Omae, frame one was arrested by RDU in Utawala, tortured and booked at Kibra Police Station where he was found dead. Peter Kiiru, in frame two has been found dead at the Kariobangi Police Station. Frame three is Brian Njunge. Brian was found dead at the Kiambu Police Station and the autopsy report reveals that Brian was strangled to death. This is unacceptable and it's time we stand on our feet and call out police brutality. For how long are we going to sit and watch as police cells are turned into death cages? #EndPoliceBrutalityKe #RutoMustGo

There on Radio Generation, Willis Otieno and Gladys Shollei have clashed over how election results from constituencies are transmitted to Nairobi by returning officers. Willis argues that a returning officer from Turkana can get to Bomas faster than one from Limuru. He claims results from constituencies close to Nairobi usually delay because they are being manipulated before reaching Bomas. Gladys has dismissed the claims.
