Wilfred Rhodes, unquestionably one of the game's greats. In a 58-Tesr career from 1899 to 1930 he scored 2325 runs at 30.19 and took 127 wickets at 26.96; in all cricket he played 1110 matches scoring 39969 runs at 30.81 and taking 4204 wickets at 16.72, aggregates that will never be matched. Oh, and he also held 765 catches. In his final year, aged 52, he played four Tests.

@MasterlyBatting Well, I respect him. I don’t think many are thinking he may be head coach but… there’s a lot of knowledge there. I’d welcome him sharing it.

Correct me if i'm wrong but... this much repeated line about a cycle where England sack the captain and coach straight after losing the Ashes in Oz... I reckon they've only reacted that way once this century.

@LydiaHislop Well done for commenting on this. You'll be in a journalistic minority as usual. For what it's worth, the mere fact he lied about owning properties abroad puts him behind the 8 ball. He can't just blame bad advice.

Hot take but LIV is a legitimate pathway for young potential superstars who can get paid to be mentored in their young careers by Tour greats and play a guaranteed schedule. The road to the PGA Tour is increasingly perilous and littered with great talent that never made it.

1976. 50 years ago, Punk arrived to apparently rescue us all from boredom. Here is a small selection of the tunes in the charts at the time. Fact is, maybe punks were the boring ones, wanting to kill disco fun with heavy blokey rock.
