I'm not having this "Howe is allowed a poor season" stuff. He has a £750m squad which he built himself & we are 14th in the table & have been awful. Bruce's lowest finish was 13th & below are the sort of players he was working with. This season isn't just poor, it's abysmal #NUFC

He has created a lasting legacy here but it’s being damaged. He will always be remembered fondly, he’s made history and that won’t change but it’s not improving and drastically declining

Eddie Howe remains the best manager for Newcastle United and deserves the chance to rebuild the squad in the summer with a proper support structure in place. If he leaves in the summer, I believe the club will regret it. Probably swiftly and for a long time. This is my opinion. I have covered the club for 23 years. I watch them pretty much every week and nothing that happens between now and the end of May will change my mind. It’s fine to disagree. I’ve seen a few comments about where I’m from recently and the fact I’m not a fan. Like that prevents me from having an opinion on a club it is my job to cover and has been for more than two decades. This is my professional opinion as a football journalist. Lots of you will disagree with it. But I also know many of you agree with me because I speak to people all the time and don’t spend my entire day on here. Opinions vary, that’s absolutely fine #nufc

@CoachMeron He’s spent drastically less than any of the big 6. Spurs are going down, Liverpool are fighting to make champions league, Chelsea are a mess. It’s been a tough season. But he’s backed with CEO and a Sporting Director now. Next season we will be monsters again

Genuinely sad seeing the situation at Newcastle. I’ve loved Howe as manager. Brought times we will never forget and with the highest level of professionalism and conduct as leader of the club. I understand wanting change but I don’t like the anger and disrespect towards Howe. I feel like it’s more against the club for not making a decision earlier for some people, which is fine. But let’s try to keep it respectful whilst giving your view on Howe’s position. Club should know by Arsenal what they want to do regardless of results and I finally want them to be decisive whatever the decision. If a new manager comes in, there is a chance that we go through tough times before it gets good again. Just look at Man United, Spurs etc. #NUFC

@Im_RobM The issue with this is it neglects the value of the squad inherited. Most of these took over top clubs - not a winless team in the relegation zone… Plus I’m pretty sure it includes artetas assistant manager trophies…
