@MataiGG

Like a punt, racing, rugby, cricket and a quiet beverage. #regularbloke. Views my own, but they're all pretty beige, to be fair.

@AnnieLennox Just a warning, Annie: everybody's looking for something. Some of them want to use you, some of them want to get used by you.

@GuerinSports @AndrewNJHawkins Lovely bloke to have a yarn with in the rustic, draughty "media room" at Oamaru Racecourse and oppositethe winning post. Unfailingly polite and happy to lend a hand for someone like me who was no natural with a camera.

Colin Berry, the NZ photographer who took one of racing’s most amazing pics, died on the weekend. He took this incredible photo of the 1961 NZ Free-For-All being run while the Addington grandstand burned down 50m away, Colin was a wonderful bloke and his images will live on.

@shortflyslip I'm amazed my old school of Logan Park still has a first XI. Pretty sure they dipped out of genuinely competitive cricket for a while.

The Otago qualifying tournament for the boys' 1st XI Cup began today in Dunedin. St Kevin's beat Logan Park (Hamish Fowler 61 & 3-14) and King's beat Waitaki BHS with Ryder Guthrie taking 4-22. Wakatipu's Liam Clarke scored 142 in the win over Mt Aspiring (Sam Harper 121 off 86

Decided to follow this guy just so I can keep track of all the mayhem he's causing due to the lack of a sincere apology.

@AidanRodley @HaydenMeikle I was at the Oamaru Mail when Allegro Agitato was winning Group 1s in Australia from the Williamson stable. Roni was unfailingly lovely to deal with.

Saddened to hear of Roni's passing. She encouraged me to follow a career in journalism when she was the editor of the Oamaru Mail and I was playing rugby there. Not the only one in my journalism class she had a strong influence on, right @HaydenMeikle?

Me being the betting man I am. If someone put up under 30.5 cars in the Petone Kmart carpark at 10:25pm on a Sunday. My inheritance plus everything to my name goes on at the very least. Unfortunately I’m now broke. That car park is jammed, 70 at least. Each to their own I guess

I'd like to talk about the price difference between pies and sausage rolls and how there isn't one....unprecedented times..

@JamieWall2 You joke, but I attended a wedding where someone wore an alternate white All Blacks jersey as their dress "shirt". He paired it with some black slacks, which was the tipping point for me deciding it was their "nice top". And no, the ABs weren't playing that night.

Feel like the Highlanders' away jersey has real versatility/cult status potential...like that's something someone from Invercargill can wear to a wedding

Smokin' Romans' full sister Afire wins easily over 1400m at Wingatui this afternoon. Two wins for the dam in the space of two hours? Probably not, but you never know...

Much respect for the people of Whanganui. Up here for my grandfather's funeral this morning. We had the funeral convoy from the funeral home to the crematorium, and so many cars heading in the opposite direction pulled over to the side of the road until our convoy passed.

@shortflyslip That prompted him to head to Italy full-time to play for boot money, I think. Won the final on the Saturday and at 5.30am on the Monday, he was off to work. I need to peruse my copy of John Kirwan's Rugby World when I get home tonight for Green's exact take.
