Shorts are responsible for compensating lenders for any corporate actions, including dividends. This is because the lender, as the true owner, is entitled to the dividend…
If cash dividends, shorts can simply pay cash equivalents.
But for non-cash dividends like warrants shorts must deliver equivalent warrants to the lenders for each borrowed share.
if there are naked shorts (sold without borrowing) or synthetic positions via swaps/options exceeding the actual float, delivering warrants becomes problematic.
GME warrant strike price of $32 makes it very interesting.

@Gfunk0000 @npantano_ It is still increasing the shares outstanding by 10% for possibly a discount. The only way it would not impact the price negatively a year from now would be if every warrant holder either failed to exercise, or exercised and held the new shares, which is unlikely.

@MathewwithnoT @npantano_ Sorry but you’re wrong, Not the same thing. Ape was not a warrant. Its was a stock dividend. Warrants are options to buy. The APEs were their own distinct security, and holders received them as a dividend without any purchase.

Not quite, so say October '26 comes around and price has just been held below $30 and nothing substantial happened. Nobody would have exercised their warrents because you would be paying $32 for a < $30 stock (nobody would do that) so it essentially expires worthless. The only way it's dilution is if shareholders exercise the bond when price is above $32, that is what creates the dilution.

@npantano_ @Gfunk0000 AMC did the same thing with $APE. The shareholders approved it betting on there being naked shorts and there weren't any so all it did was dilute the stock as the company had to issue every share.

@mrchrisadcox @Azkyrie AMC used an underhanded strategy to dilute their stock and raise money for the company at shareholder expense. If there are no "naked shorts" then this could have a similar effect; Getting a cult shareholder base to applaud their own stock dilution.
